Default Were do you guys buy metal?

I'm looking for some local places that might sell flat stock. Lowes has a little bit and Home Depot has almost nothing. I know Fastenal carries some but their hours are the same as my work hours and they are closed weekends.

Usually at Best Buy, and they have a nice selection of blues too....

There's a place in Belleville on Martinsville Road just north of Savage. Cannot recall the name offhand (something 'steel'), but they sell just about anything you need.

Alcohol, Tobbaco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

It might be called Contractor's Steel.

Mcmastercarr.com sells that stuff and you normaly get it next day if you order by 3. but if you just looking for left over pieces that wont work. Here at work we use metal supermarket.

Try Metal Supermarket in Livonia, on Armrein (I think) just South of I-96.

Also another place on Dequindre just North of 13 Mile. Can't remember their name.

    Thanks guys!

I tried metal supermarket but their hours are just 9-5 m-f. I can never get there between those hours.

I'd rather not deal with that place. I went in there the other day I had off looking for a welder and they pissed me off. The guy would not even give me a price on any Hobarts and only wanted to try and sell me the $800 Miller he had on the floor. And their el-cheapo welding helmets that you could get for like $50 at Lowes was over $100 there. I did not notice any steel stock either though. Plus their hours suck worse than the rest. Like 9-5 and they close for an hour for lunch.
