Default Dual Sport Rider From the Thumb (see: username)

What's up everyone. New to the site, but not new to Michigan. I ride a 1999 Suzuki DR350SE farkled up to look like a poor man's supermoto, but soon I'll be getting a Buell Lightning or something similar to keep up with highway traffic when needed (the DR is like driving a scooter in a windstorm on the E-way). Anyways, looking forward to meeting up with some fellow Michigan riders this spring/summer/fall. I'm about an hour north of Detroit in a town called Almont (close to Imlay City), so if anyone is local to me, give me a shout!!!!!!

    Peace

    Welcome!

Been kicking around the dual sport idea. Little bigger than the 350, but not too big. No trails, just a little more stability on gravel roads. Perhaps just a tire change on my Uly for now?

Lots more to see if you get off the main roads!

No thread is worth a hoot without pics for, so I'll show off a few:

My bike.... 1999 Suzuki DR350SE. It was passed down from my dad, and currently has only 2,500 miles on it. I've been farkling it up with performance and aesthetic mods lately. Plus a photobomb from my dog.

And this is my aunt's 1997 Sportster. I don't know much about Harley's but I'm considering taking on this project since she want's to part with it. We'll see.

EDIT: This was supposed to be a reply thread to sprink. Don't know what happened.

I would highly suggest getting at least a 600+ CC dual sport. I wanted a DR650 but I fell into the DR350 because my dad already had it. It is kinda sluggish in the power department.... With the K&N filter, FMF muffler and proper jetting I'm sure I'll barely break 30 WHP. However the lightweight aspect is awesome for backroads. It weighs about 285 lbs dry.

I've been really into the Aprilia Dorsoduro as of late. It's a 50/50 supermoto/streetfighter. A really cool concept. Check it out if you get the chance.

I've seen the Aprilla, cool bike.

Your Aunts bike is not a Sportster. It's a soft-tail.

Whoops. Shows my naivety when it comes to Harleys. Still a pretty nice bike. Needs paint and electrical work... We'll see.
