Breaking a pipeline can kill ya! Break a fiber optic line and it can cost you millions! If you made the call, it can save your A$$!

Ya know sprink I hated the fiber mentality when I did one call jobs as a pipeline inspector. They were more worried about fiber than me. I use to tell them, don't worry about the fiber. You might go bankrupt but if you hit mine hard enough you won't go home!!

In all the years we've been excavating .... we have always called for underground locations of ? We've had our fair share of hitting waterline, sewer line, cable line and even small service gas lines even when they were marked. But when it comes to shit like fiber or pipelines carrying whatever, its super caution plus a bunch of shovels ! No room for errors !!

Was installing a new 12 inch water main around an addition at Ford Wixom. The excavator, who had dug the footing parallel to an exiting 8 inch line, burst said 8 inch pipe running out new pipe under the footing. That ditch filled with water to the top by the time I turned around at the top of the ladder. I took a cutoff saw with me, but lost the rest of the tools, lol.

Well at least it was water sprink.

Yeah moe, and to have a pipeline inspector from the company on site is free and it removes the liability from the excavator. It's all positives in these dealings and the opposite can kill you and many others!
