    Default Working out physical fitness and related apps and gear

    So I didn't do this as a new years resolution - started back in November by joining a gym after like two years off of being lazy. So back into a routine like 3 days a week. And then Christmas the family got me a fitness band. So then the obsession began. Started tracking steps, sleep, heart rate - anything an app would track. Using Garmin Connect and MapMyFitness. Started taking the dog for more walks.

    Anyone else using any fitness devices or doing any tracking? It can be pretty interesting.

    And on top of it my health insurance REQUIRES me this year to do some fitness goals so this makes it easier by just tracking through devices, etc.

    My main goal is just being in good shape for:

    1. Keeping up with my 1,000 kids
    2. Being in prime shape for trackdays and riding
    3. Feeling better overall

    Yep got an exercise bike 30 mins a day and a band for upper body!

    Good for you Mud. Need to take care off the olé health, not getting any younger right. My wife wears a fit bit on her wrist religiously and loves it.

    Be careful Leebo! Same routine everyday is counterproductive. Need to mix it up. Currently I do:

    Day 1: Chest & back
    Day 2: Arms & Shoulders
    Day 3: Legs & cardio

    If I work out more than 3 days in a week I just go back to day 1 after 3, etc. Or I will incorporate a little of all 3, i.e. I work out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday then Friday or Saturday I will do a little bit of each. And I try to walk with or without the dog (with the dog is a slower pace - he is old) each day. I track my walks / length / pace with MapMyFitness app. Here is a typical workout for me (from yesterday leg day):

    Thursday 01/08/2915
    Treadmill
    1 mile 8:27
    1.41 mile 13 minutes
    Leg extension machine
    1 set 150 # - 10 reps
    2 sets 210 # - 10 reps
    Hack squats
    3 sets 90 # - 10 reps
    Angled leg press
    3 sets 270 # - 15 reps
    Chinups over and under hand
    4 reps
    Ab crunch machine
    90 # - 70 reps
    Swimming
    Hot tub
    Sauna - squats

    I vary exercises, weights, reps, etc. week to week. I try to incorporate superset - 2 different exercises in as well with zero rest between - like mid range weight so I can do at least 10 reps of each exercise - i.e. barbell curls and hammer curls with 70% max weight.

    Definitely not getting any younger Moe - just better.

    For me, its pretty simple. I dont need an app or any devices.

    I run. About 3 miles a day, and I take Thursday and Sunday off.

    I used to do 120 pushups and situps, I'm going to work back up to that starting this weekend.

    Been going nuts not having the gym and with all the snow havent really been able to walk or run so my work outs right now are digging the sled out after getting stuck. The new gym should be done in a month or so and Ill be back at it. before the snow fell I was running with the dog a couple miles a couple times a week.

    Ive never used a fit bit or any apps really to track. I'm just used to pen and paper in a note book and ive got to the point where I can still tell you the weight and reps for each work out the last time I did it even if its been a few months. one of those things that came easy to me. my weight has always fluctuated. I'll be up or down about 50 pounds depending on how often Im in the gym. right now Im up and its time for me to turn it around.

    OK Paul will do! I just bought a tai-chi tape so something a little different.I used to do pushups all the time when my back hurt then it would start feeling better and I'd forget.

    The new club house in lakes of the north. Pool, hot tub, work out area.
