    Default Ride up north

Last thursday left to head up to Mancelona for the week and convinced the girlfriend to let me ride up while she took the car and took the dog. Got a late start to the day didnt leave until 1400 and still took the long way over to 31 and up 22 them headed back east to mancelona. Did about 415 miles that day. Picked up a hitch hiker on the bars. Little dragon fly at my first gas stop. Then on 22 at the scenic look out caught a beautiful sunset and smoked a cigar. Got a little sketchy aftewards when it was dark. Saw a deer right when I turned out to get back on the road and as dark as it was I was only a little scared. Ended up with 415 miles that day and wished I could have had a few more hours of daylight to ride more. Next day did a little riding. Rode the cr500 on the dirt for the first time and that took some getting used to. Never road a bike on the dirt and the 500 was a fun challenge. Then got the commander stuck in a mud whole with kaley. The water on the driver side was up to my waiste. The winch only had 50 ft of cord so had to have her parents show up in her jeep to have something to hook up to. Only got a little dirty. The next day went took the raptor out and ended up having to get towed home. It just died and still haven't figured that one out yet. Might have to pull the motor next trip up. Since the raptor was down went back to riding the old warrior and rolled it a couple times and one of the times I think I cracked a couple ribs. It only hurts if I move or breathe lol. Did a bit more riding on the glide in the area and made it to shorts brewery and legs inn but my dirt riding for the week was done couldn't take the bumps any more. Rode on back home today and glad I missed the flooding shit show. Kaley got some shots of me on the way home. Did about 830 round trip. Not bad for not leaving the state this week.

Cool pics looks like fun Lance. Um you think the raptor "just" dying has anything to do with burying it under 50 feet deep of water and mud? lol. It might dry out by the time you go back.

Raptor never got wet it was bone dry up there except that spot which is basically in the middle of lake that always gets dry in the middle in the summer. Raptor was running awesome until it just died. No spitting or sputtering came around a corner and just shut off. When got home noticed the oil was a little low so guessing it was running a little hot from low oil. So went to do a fluid change and then kaleys dad snapped the bottom of the oil bag trying to get the drain plug out. So that put a kabosh on that until we get a new bag. Good news is no shavings in the oil.

Ahhh, Mancelona, we have friends that have a cabin in Kalkaska. One of our normal drive through towns on our beer runs... Nice area, but NOT really up north.... I know, I know... you southern staters it is!

    Thanks for sharing the pics!!!
