    Thumbs up Stang HP install

Well I showed the parts off during the winter/spring... The Stang - More Power thread

So Thursday night Nate and I started tearing into it...

We figured that was all we had to do on the top end... so..

Friday we started under the car... Dave joined us.

Dropping the drive shaft, unhooking the various trans things, dropping the exhaust pieces, etc..

    Drive shaft gone

Started to hook up the hoist and find out what we missed

    pull the motor they said.
It will be fun they said.

Ultra Al showed up just in time to take some pics as she puked out the drivetrain.

    Push Dave

    She gets higher

The adjustable hoist setup is awesome... as Nasty Nate shows

    She's out!!

We roll the car out into the street to power wash. Seems like Dave is amused.

    Cleaned up the drivetrain too.

That concluded Friday. We had BBQ, pool, and fireworks to attend to.

Sat we broke the drivetrain down. The car told us her dirty secret.

Somewhere in its 33k existence before me she had a used trans and torque converter installed.

The smog pump goes into the head and as you can see here, it's plugged

Both sides plugged... oh well, that isn't going back on.

As you can tell she's on the engine stand

Valve covers off and you can tell it's a young motor

Pulled the lower intake... the valley looks good.

    Got the shitty manifolds off

cleaned off some carbon and the pistons look GREAT

Dropped the oil pan and that all looks good too.

Pulled the lifter girdle, lifter dog bones, and the lifters themselves

All of that motor work made a hell of a mess. We then spent about 2 hours cleaning up the motor.

Transitioned to the gas tank job. Have to drop it and install a bigger gas pump.

    The new fuel pump

Ready to go back up. Also had to run to Auto Zone for a new fuel filler neck seal.

Nasty hooking up the fuel lines just before raising it up.

Done separately and oil pan just sitting on top. But you can see my fancy paint work here. High temp matte black.

That concluded Saturday. We grilled some steaks, potatoes, mushrooms, corn on the cob, and started a bon fire... We got down with the groceries!!

Yeah but that being said... my buds 2013 stang 5 speed had a new trans after a month. My 2010 HHR SS had a new motor at 3k. Things happen. With the low milage of this car, I'm betting it was out of time on the warranty. Who knows.

Sunday brought all kinds more fun. While waiting for my buddy Tim (a real licensed mechanic) and Mustang owner/fan.

Started to work on the rear suspension...

Bought some new Eibach springs and urethane spring bushings. (R: 1" lower F: 1.25" lower)

New on the left / old on the right

    Old spring out

New spring and bushings in. Still need to flip the lateral shock so it don't rub the tire more.

    shock flipped

    It hasn't settled but...

    stock height

    Rear 1" lower

    Got the other side done.

But understand.. we had to get creative to get the axle back where we needed it.

I of coarse painted the drums with some high temp paint

The black drums look good back there.

1" lower in the rear so install a 1" lower rear diff bottom out rubber bumper

Also, here's what the engine bay looks like right now.

Got the Anderson Motor Sport cam installed

    New Ford Racing timing set

I'm replacing every gasket I come to...

New front main seal and timing cover (new gasket there too).

New Ford Racing oil pump, and ARP oil pump shaft. Also a new rear main seal.

Soaked the new ford racing roller lifters.

Dropped the lifters in and ARP bolted the heads on

Getting ready to check the push rod lengths

The new Dart heads look amazing!!

Got the water pump back on

the painted block and oil pan look great next to those alum heads

Put the valve covers on just to keep everything clean

Can't wait to see this with those long tubes on there

That concludes Sunday and where we stand now.

Got a long list of things to do still....

Had to order new motor & trans mounts.
Have to tear into the front suspension. (upper strut mounts, springs, spring bushings, rack n pinion with tie rods)
    Ordering new push rods tomorrow.
Have to replace the trans valve body, filter and torque converter.
    Finish motor stuff
Marry the motor and trans back together
Clean up and paint engine bay
    Put drivetrain back in
then a huge list of reconnect and get ready to fire.

True Dave... we ate like kings all weekend. We really didn't work too long of hours either. Sat. being the longest but if you take out the AZ run... probably a little over 6 hours. So that helped.

And thanks for reminding me to thank those boys... Kosher stopped by Fri & Sun. Moe and Al on Saturday. Thanks gents!! It's good to see you, and sorry for my pre-occupy mind.
