oh boy does this hit the mark!!!! it also hits close to home for me as I have just recently lost my Uncle Geoff, and he rode to live, EVERYDAY. He would rather be on his bike than in his cage any day, and thats how he rode as well, everyday to feel alive. He was taking some unnecesarry risks there at the end but he knew the consequences and while he was confident of his skills he was "looking three cars ahead." He was always scanning for what was to come around the corner. This time he perhaps made one mistake, or there was a drunk driver that he couldn't account for. Whatever, the cause of his demise, he loved riding. He loved riding with family and friends and thats really all he wanted to do.
I know for him, myself and probably the most of you on this forum, if money wasn't an obstacle, we would ride 24/7 365 all around the country keeping with the warm weather and staying where ever as long as the roads were there and the weather was agreeable. I know I would ride all over the country every bit of the year just so that I could ride. Work ties us down, the hunt for material needs and comfort are crippling disorders that society has grown accustomed to. I will raise my children the best I can and like all animals when they are old enough, (kick) out you go, live your life the best you can and hold on to the values that I have taught you; Integrity, Honor, Sense of Ownership. As for Mom and I, we're out, hittin the road. Probably sell the house get an RV and live out of it for the rest of my days if I can.
Why do I ride? to hold onto life and feel it, taste it and experience all there is.
