Any recommended solvents I should use? Think I'm going to tear mine down today.

If your tearing down all the way to rebuild, a pot of boiling water and some dish soap. Simmer on stove, watch the dirt come to the top(I skim with spoon so when you pull the carb out wont get dirt back into it.) Set the parts down they dry immediate because they are hot. Check the passage to make sure they are cleaned out and start re-assembling. NOTE this provides you are either single or have an understanding wife.LOL

I have no idea how bad they are, nor what I'm doing really. And no, I don't think boiling a carb in the wife's pan is an option.

You use an OLD JUNK pot. Or go buy a brand new cheapy. Didn't mean to use the same pot you make spaghetti in.

    I actually LOL'ed

I would go with Jon's idea with the brake or carb cleaner and compressed air. however, if you have absolutely NO idea, then I would wait till you either A) get a manual or internet pictures and assistance to put back together or B) wait for someones help who has some idea what they are doin.

I would even be willing to offer my assistance. I have pulled apart many a cycle and put them back together with successful results. PM if you need some advice

No PM'ing. Flush it out on here. More input for a higher yield in success. Plus then others can see & learn. Ya know.
