    Default Bike table

With the exhaust and shock on the bottom, the jack I have can't lift my Buell. I have to use the little stands like a sportbike. They barely get the tires off the floor, fine for some stuff, but still leaves me sitting and laying on the concrete.

Since I have had time lately, I don't have $ to buy a lift table. With a bunch of wood, either left over or brought home from construction sites, that I had hoarded I built one.

Got a lot of comments on the XLforum about it's strenght and about the Youtube videos of people loading bikes with ramps. I was confident in my engineering and materials. It is wide enough and slopes less than 2 feet in 10, so I can keep my feet on the ground all the way up.

******Don't try this at home kids. I am a professional with my own insurance****

Basically, I built a ramp. Here it is under construction.

Just rode the bike up the ramp and into the wheel chock, leaving it in gear for a parking brake. Then I jacked up the end of the ramp and put jack stands under it.

    Much nicer working this way.

Greg, would have been nice if the rest of the repair had gone as well!

The repair did not go smoothly, but I think it is complete.

Yes, but it turned into a fun job.

Borrowed this cool jig from a XLforum member.

No problem drilling the old bolt out. Then you just tap the hole.....

Got half the remaining bolt out with the first try with tap.

But when I started the tap again.........

Yeap, broke the friggin tap in the hole.

After walking away for a while pondering removing the head to have a professional work on it, I said Fuck it and went at it again.
I picked out as much as I could then sprayed the remaining tap bit with a can of air held upside down to try and super chill the bit.
Then I smashed the tap with a punch and picked out pieces. Took a couple whacks, but eventually I got all the bits out and ran a new tap through it.
The threads were a bit rough, so I used JB Weld for locktite.

Okay then, we should be ready for another roadtrip. Do we run East and hit up some Canadians or maybe run West and terrorize Joe and Kim? Oh, have you tried the barmitts on the Buell?
