Exclamation HD FLH Recall: Rear brake switch

    Potential Number of Units Affected
: 250,757. Summary: On certain models year 2009-2012 Touring, CVO Touring and trikes manufactured from June 6, 2008 through September 16, 2011, the rear brake light switch may be exposed to excessive heat from the exhaust system. Consequence: The excessive heat may cause the switch to not activate or activate the brake lamp when no brake is applied and/or cause a brake fluid leak at the brake light switch affecting rear brake performance. Either condition may increase the risk of a crash. Remedy: Harley-Davidson will notify owners and dealers will install a rear brake light switch kit, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on or about October 31, 2011. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson at 414-343-4056.

    Thanks for the heads up.
Guess I'll wait for my recall notice
and get it done in the spring.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. Not that it will matter if I wrap my pipes.

I got mine as well but I tell ya I've been hearing about problems after the switch has been replaced from several people. Looks like its usually bad dealer service though.

Mostly brake fade, or brake pedal hopping. Seems some techs aren't too familiar with the "Digi Tech" brake bleed system for abs bikes. When I changed my handlebars on my bike I bled the brakes myself and still had the dealer check the air in the lines using the digi tech and he found some so he did it again.

Yeah the brake bleeding is not normal to what we are use to. I have a great tech at BB and he's bled mine before to get rid of some squish I was feeling. But that is the only concern I'll still get it done in the spring.

I heard on another sit (AIM) that somebody had theirs melt and they lost all their brake fluid for the rear.
