    Default Hocking Hills

Thinking hard about heading to SE Ohio this weekend.

What town makes a good base? I am thinking closer to home rather than Marietta end.

I have a pretty good idea which roads to hit, need to know where there is GAS.

Any help from those that have been there a time or two would be appreciated!

    Look smilies!

Zanesville is great, anything south of there is great riding. Be sure you hit SR555 and SR26 MMMM tasty, GREAT riding. Also, be mindful of deer as there are many.

I was looking at Zanesville because of location. Any hotel or food recommendations? Thinking of safety for my bike at hotel.

    Thanks!

We stay at the Hampton Inn off I70 and leave the trailer and truck there (no worries). There's a ton of hotels at that exit, take your pick.
Do lunch in Athens Oh, lots of great places to eat and it's a college town so, lots of young girls walking around.
Also there's a BP station outside of Athens, STOP there, and have a look inside, the only gas station/headshop/pornshop/and model cars I've ever seen.

    Remember SR555, don't miss it.

BTW, stay away from old mans cave, to many people to much traffic and not much to see really. The riding down there is endless, stop at a rest area and get a free map, they are very nice and show you all the roads.

Kinda wish I could get another weekend down there. Prolly not gonna happen though. It's such a cool place to ride, better then Deals gap IMO. Less traffic, the roads are 95% perfect with alot of nice sweeps and elevated senic views. Some of the roads get quite technical with off camber S turns, and crazy hills. I've discovered maybe 15 covered bridges, bring your camera and have fun.

Here's a vid, notice not one car, it's typical.
