Default Handlebar swap on 76 BMW R6/60 minor issue afterward

Hey just wanted to see if I could get any tips on a little problem that my buddy just ran into after swapping his handlebars on his 76 BMW R6/60.

He just swapped the stock bars for some cafe racer style bars and didn't have any problems removing the grips, and then unscrewing all the controls and putting them on the new bars.

However after he did this now his bike is idling at 1,800 RPMs consistently almost like a wire got pulled, however he informed me that he actually has more slack with the wiring then before. Most likely something with the throttle cables? Any suggestions?

I know he would appreciate it!

I would really look over the throttle cable. Bet the issue is there.

Not sure what kind of controls he has , but if its the type where the cable goes inside a collet, the cable might be hung up on the outside of the collet creating the problem.

just throwing that out there, real hard to say without seeing it.

throttle cables... pull that side control apart. Could even start the bike with the grip disconnected.
