    Default Thunder Drome Oct. 16th

<H3>I know that a bunch of you have seen the videos recently. I'm riding over there Sat. to volunteer. You can still enter to race at www.thunderdrome.com

From the site: The Thunderdrome is a balls-out wheel to wheel race for geared road bikes, fixies, mountain bikes, powered scooters, pit bikes and mopeds on Detroit’s vintage Dorais Velodrome. We’re restoring the place by holding events and putting 50% of the profits into upkeep and giving the other 50% to Detroit Parks and Recreation.

I just got back.... blown out.
It was the single coolest thing I've ever witnessed! Great group of guys, borderline reckless fun and PBR spnsored the after party....
YouTube videos will be up shortly, amazing.
Next year will be 3 times the size with five times the spectators.
btw-I have a line on an AMF Harley X90 to build up for the scooter race next year!

High quality vid of the whole event:

Grudge match between the Moped race winner vs. the pit bike race winner. The second moped is a fast guy that DNF due to multiple crashes and non-starts. The pit bike racer is John, owner of Cafe Racer in Ypsi.

Looks like a great time. I wasn't too far away rom there, unfortunately I was at a wedding. Would've rather spent the day at the drome.

Here's a bike that caught my eye after reading this thread last Friday:

Another one. Too big for the track, but cool nonetheless:

Alcohol, Tobbaco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

That BSA is badass! The Thunderdrome guys gave wide latitude re: bikes. Basically if you could run it safely and there were enough bikes for a class they'd allow it.
Next year will be really interesting, they're planning several races throughout the year.
