    Default '84 Chobber Classic

My 15 year old son and I are working on what will be his first roadbike, an '84 Honda Shadow VT500.
The plan was to go bobber with it, we lowered it by replacing the 13.5" rear shocks with 11" and by changing the rear wheel from a 3x16 to a 3.5x15 off a VT700. We chopped the frame just behind the seat. But instead of using a trailer fender we wanted to use a fender with deeper sides. We picked up a used fender off a H.D. Ultra Classic, after setting on the back of the bike we decided we liked the look, it has more of a classic look, sorta like a little indian. But then the front fender didn't match anymore so we found an aftermarket fender for a Dynaglide and it fits and matches the rear. We haven't mounted it yet the pics are just sitting on the tire. Cut off the mufflers and welded some straight pipe on, added 6" baffles, K&N air filter, ordered stage one jet kit but haven't gotten it installed yet.
So its not a bobber anymore, been chopped but not really a chopper either, not sure what to call it. The lil injun.
My son runs high school track and progress has slowed now that track season is here. But we're still picking away at it, we started the first week of March, he doesn't turn 16 until October.

We're finishing up the rear fender struts now, then we'll start on the seat pan. We also need to modify the front fender mount.

    Awesome!

Wish my dad would have had an interest in bikes when I was 15.

Great project for you and your son, and we didn't even have to threaten you to get some pics!

Oh, and how about an intro thread? Where you from? What do you ride?
