Come Spring I'll need a set of wide white wall tires for the Vulcan. The cheaper the better. LOL I'm thinking just some stock Dunlop replacements.

I always check Ebay, but if not, I will try to support the local guy. Also bought for JP.

I have the hardest problem finding tires for my bikes. My Ninja 250 had scooter size tires, my FZR had big ole 19" rear and my Drifter uses a 140/90-16 rear. The 140 is a very popular size but I want wide whitewalls and my choices are very slim in that size.

Would there be any downside to running 130/19-16's on the rear instead of the 140?

This is the cheapest place I've ever found.

I would be concerned about it affecting the handling characteristics of it bike.

If you want cheap and don't mind mail order, I have used The Motorcycle Superstore many times with super results and almost free shipping (like $5). Prices are superb and very competitive. Obviously they want your business. I even had a tire go on sale a week after I bought one and when I called about it they refunded me the difference!

If you like to buy local, then Rocky's might be the place for you if you get into the Flint area. Its a mega outlet store like Gander Mountain with a massive motorcycle section, full service counter and inventory. Lots and lots of tires on the rack or they can order anything from their warehouse or suppliers. Awesome prices and they do free mount and balance if you buy there! Whooo hooo! They are on the corner of Bristol Rd and Saginaw St. just east of the Bristol Rd exit off I-475. Or you can get off at the Bristol Rd exit on I-75 and just head east a click or two.

But buying at Rocky's is paying full retail price. At that point, you might as well, buy from the dealer.

I'm half tempted to go with black walls because I could get really cheap prices. But I think my bike looks better with the wide white walls.

I'll most likely try and find a good price on Milestone by Continental or Cruisermax by Dunlop (current tires).

That white wall paint gets bad reviews from what I've read.

I'm REALLY thinking of going black walls just because I can get 2 black walls for the price of one whitewall. I need to photoshop my bike with black walls.

Have you found Rocky's to be expensive? Mount and balance is a minimum of $30 per tire.

All the stuff I have priced there was internet prices and very affordable.

I mean expensive for products. The labor side is fine if $30 per is the price. However, I bet that is if the tires are bought there. More if bought elsewhere. I use to live 10mins from the place. Plus they never offered any discounts

Give me a shout I get tires from a warehouse local , I also mount and balance (static) and also deal with dyna beeds . I at one time was a owner of a small yamaha dealer and know how to mount tires the right way , any thing over 4oz break down and rotate 180 , I also check this with using dyna beeds , I myself ride a bmw k1200 and am very fussy when it come to mounting and balanceing, bought my nomar tire changer just to do it myself ,havent done any 300 tires ,but it can be done on this machine without hurting rim finish.

I don't know where you live , but I've purchasted all my tires from PawPaw cycle in PawPaw Mi. , they allways beat the best on line price by a huge amount .

Treads & Sleds in GR. They match anyone's price and and the owners (Stennis and Mare) are good people.
