Well it has been debated a few times on some forums and in my own mind.

Here's the product provided by HG

The directions are good and the the parts are pretty straight forward once you get into it.

I must say. It is everything I was told it would be. Much more comfortable and provides more space for your feet. I'm very happy with the product.

ya that was one thing i didn't like on the streetglide i rode was the floor boards didnt leave much room to move my feet but this looks like it would fix the problem

I have no problem with the foot room on mine. However, I've decided I throughly hate the heel shift. When I bought the bike it was missing, so I picked up a used one at the swap meet for $5. I dislike having to lift my heel 2-3" to shift, so I'm going back to toe only with the spacer.

Fishman's Vulcan has a heel shift that sets behind the floorboard and is about flush with the top. If I could find that type setup I'd put it on. I've looked at the extended levers, but the shaft won't clear the floorboard enough to get the peg that low.

Tele... you would be surprised with even just the board extenders that it really makes it much better on clearance with the controls.

It's not a 'clearance' issue, it's a 'lift up my heel to shift' issue.

Well, not sure what to tell ya there. All the heel shifters I have ever rode were all about the same as my FLH. So its fine by me.

I'm going to try it a notch lower on the shaft, although I'm not sure it'll go any lower without hitting the floorboard. And, I'll keep looking for an alternative.

I think I found it. It's a combination of your extensions and a longer shift. This pic did it:

The extensions provide enough clearance between the primary cover and floorboard to let the shaft of an extended lever ride low. I should be able to get the peg as low as I want.

I think this'll work.

Did you try the passenger extenders? The left passenger board is a notorious leg burner, I was thinking about putting on a heel gaurd and extending them.

No problems with passenger pegs to my knowledge.

You can't adjust it? I could not get used to my heel shifter either but I was able to adjust mine all the way down so it was out of the way.

No. It sets ove the floorboard, not behind it like yours.

That sucks. What options do you have? Can you just cut it off?

He could just remove it completely.

It was off when I bought the bike. I didn't mind so much, but the Kuyakin spacer rattles and jingles like crazy. Also, it left a lot of slop in the shift linkage. I'll probably end up going back to just the toe shift (at least short term), but with the addition of nylon washers to take up the slack and stop the jangling.

Great Idea. One of those things I never thought of. I'll have to get that set up for next season. Oh and by the way "Don't mind the dirt, it needs to be washed". We need to talk about that.:D
