zamochit

I want a 96", but not 100% sure yet. I may just go with a 1340 (82"), because I can get it way cheaper. Almost a $1000 or more cheaper which will get me more misc quicker to keep going.

It ain't my money, but a bit of advice: Build what you want. If you want the 96CI, get it. A thousand is a lot of coin, but if that's what'll make you happy you'll only end up regretting your decision later. If it takes a little longer to complete because of the extra cash, then it takes longer. The end result will be what you want instead of living with a compromise.

zamochit

Thanks for the advice telecast. You are right and probably will get the 96".

Sweet, but if it was me I'd take the drag bars and custom seat off that purple chop in the upper right hand corner.

So you are gg to run a TC motor?

There is a seller on ebay shovelheadkicker and bigdogpartsbin (I think). Anyway they sell factory left overs from bdm. YOu can get a complete 117" evo motor for say $3k. Sometimes with a complete wet primary. Food for thought

zamochit
10-12-2009, 11:04 AM
Sounds good, but couldn't find anything on ebay.

any update?

zamochit
11-17-2009, 09:57 PM
I bought a couple pairs of handlebars and an oil tank. I been searching for a motor. I keep bouncing off different ones I been finding. Right now, I am looking at a shovelhead. I think it would complement the bike pretty well.

junkyardjon
11-19-2009, 10:25 PM
if you need 1" drag bars let me know. i think the span is 28 or so with a slight pullback

zamochit
11-19-2009, 10:40 PM
I actually like the super bars I have a lot, but the pullback is not what I expected. Biltwell Inc. makes them with a 2" pullback and thats what I wanted. Eventually I will get those, but until then I am gonna run the ones I have or the 12" apes I have.

It probably won't be until after Christmas, but I may see if you will help me with a few things after I get the drivetrain.

RedneckMedic

I hate staring at mine all bare with no drivetrain. I am the most impatient person you will ever meet. Its killing me to not have all the parts already for it.

Rugby if you want the apes I'll probably part with them if you seriously want them. They are brand new and came with the bike from Sucker Punch Sally.

Finally got an engine coming. I wanted to go bigger, but got it cheap from Paul Yaffe. I went with a black and chrome 80" with almost no miles. It should be here end of the week.

Which trans? Couple it with a 6 speed if'n ya can!

zamochit
12-16-2009, 10:27 PM
Gas Man, no pic yet as its still on its way here. I had one in my email, but I deleted it the other day.

telecast, the 6speed was my trans of choice, but I don't really need a 6speed as I am building it to be a bar hopper more than a long hauler. I will see what I run into out there and go from there.

we wouldn't get shit done.

Best way to go if you want to do it all yourself!

How much money do you think you'll have tied up in this whole thing?

zamochit
12-26-2009, 11:05 PM
I am guessing around $5000. I need brakes, controls, trans and primary and its done. There are so many people selling off their new parts from builds and I have been very fortunate to pick up a lot of it cheap.

zamochit
02-28-2010, 11:50 PM
Update: I picked up a set of hand controls, a 5 speed tranny, hell bent pipes, and front and rear brake calipers (Hawg Halter). Plus, I picked up another project a 59' Sportster.

telecast
03-01-2010, 07:50 AM
We need update pics, it's been too long!

What's the Sporty like? In a basket or just needing a lot of TLC?

Those damned right-hand shifts scare me. I'd always go for the brake...and it wasn't there.

Gas Man
03-01-2010, 03:01 PM
HH brakes... NICE

zamochit
03-02-2010, 08:06 PM
2 projects are better than one. The sporty is complete, so I can play with that in between buying parts for the other.

I don't have pics of the SPS, because I have it tore apart and sitting in my basement.

Here are pics of project 2!

Bob
03-02-2010, 09:06 PM
That's cool man. I did not know you got a Sportster too.

zamochit
03-03-2010, 05:19 PM
I also may be adding a Triumph on top of that. Ran into a deal thats almost hard to say no too.

Hi Zam,
Hows the SPS coming? I'm chad1043 from over at clubchopper. Thanks for the advice. I saw the link on your signature and thought I would check out your new project. Did you just get the roller? I like SPS but I really wanted a springer and Flyrite has some great prices.

Now I gotta wait til the SV650S sells.

Great projects.

zamochit
03-30-2010, 07:19 PM
SPS is coming along pretty well. I am stumped a bit on which motor to throw in it. Instead of picking up the Trump I bought 2 shovelhead motors and one has a title. So I'm thinking that would probably my best bet than going with the EVO. I may also change out my wide glide for narrow or Springer too. Decisions decisions.

Also, I ended up selling the Sporty.

I have some pretty god hook ups now, so I just need to start ordering stuff.

zamochit
05-24-2010, 11:33 PM
Finally getting a stock pile of parts. I have a 2" primary belt drive, ignition, rotors and sprocket, kreem for the tank, risers, starter, and another list of parts on the way.

I also built a bike table, because the jack was a pain in the ass to try to do shit with.

Pics soon to follow!

zamochit
06-13-2010, 10:15 PM
Ok, finally have most everyhting to get this thing on the road. From here on I will post pics of the mock up stage. It may be a bit slow as this is my first build and don't really have any help, so here it goes. Enjoy the pics as they come. I'll try to post each week as it comes together.

zamochit

Here is the rear wheel with the sprocket and rotor assembled.

zamochit
06-13-2010, 10:24 PM
I am waiting for my tranny mount plate and final drive chain, they should be in this week. I will be aligning the rear wheel and putting in the drivetrain throughout the week. I can't wait to see it with the motor in.

Gas Man
06-14-2010, 01:00 PM

zamochit
07-03-2010, 02:13 AM
Decided to stay up tonight and put some labor in. I got the rear wheel aligned, tranny plate and tranny in, and the motor sat in. I also put the front rotor on and mounted the rear fender. I need to get some odd and end bolts and spacers for the rear wheel, I just have washers in the rear right now.

Here are some photos.

Gonna make a bobber? Are those 4 under forks? Looking forward to seeing the progress. Building em is just as much fun as ridin em.

zamochit
08-23-2010, 08:55 PM
Yea, going bobber with it. The forks are only lowered 1.5". I think having the tank sit low as well as having only 2" risers with Biltwell Tracker bars makes the front look squatty.

As soon as I can get the spacers I need for the sprockets I will be tearing it down and painting.

Icemann
08-23-2010, 10:30 PM
Cool, keep us updated.
This is giving me the itch to start a new project, but then the wife would kick my ass out.
