This is what can be done on an SM. This is my old one... biggest mistake ever with bikes, selling it...

Yeah, that's young. I been riding longer than that!

But I do miss those days. At the time I had a Yamaha 650 Special II. Used to do some camping with it out in the Chelsea area.

Check out the other events forum, there's a bike day in Holly on Oct 4 some of us are attending. The more the better! I'm in Milan, anyone coming from downriver can meet up if they want.

Started riding at 16. First bike was an 82 Virago 920. Currently 29 and rocking a 01 Softail Deuce and in the market for a affordable sportbike project as well (90-97 Katana...older Ninja or FZR etc.) It's good to be single sometimes ;-)

I'm 23. My first bike was an older crotch rocket (FZR600). Then I bought a Virago 750 that my wife and I rode for most of last summer. I've had a few other bikes mixed in since then. I added an '82 Suzuki 850 right at the end of last season after my best friend crashed my Virago. I still have the FZR, but the suzuki will be my daily rider. It's sorta a cruiser...I haven't really worked out what it is yet. I don't have the fairings, bags, etc on it currently so it's almost a cruiser...but it's on the edge of sport touring. I just call it mine.

What year was your Virago? I had the 82 920 mentioned above, as well as an 87 1100 earlier last season. Nice bikes...would have been nicer with just one carb. If you ever had to remove them or adjust them, you know what I mean. LoL

'96. It was a decent bike. Very reliable and with an aftermarket seat my wife loved how comfy it was 2-up. That said, I didn't really like it that much. Too boring.

I had a FZR600 too. Sold it last year. Sometimes I miss it.

Same style as my 1100 then. Hmm...aside from the shaft drive, mine was a blast. Guess the extra 350cc's didn't hurt. I also had a Mustang aftermarket seat on mine...I do miss that for sure. I got rid of mine because it wasn't reliable...65k+ on the clock and the previous owner(s) weren't really sticklers for preventative maintenance. After I had to tear the side casing off and replace the stator, I was pretty much done with it. Still have oil spots out in the driveway from that thing.

LoL If I held onto it, I would have fixed it. Only reason it leaked is because the PO had also been into the side cases and instead of replacing the gaskets, they used RTV...poorly. When I pulled the left case to replace the stator, I reinstalled it using RTV (paying attention to what the hell I was doing) and that side "magically" stopped leaking.

I had a 1980 xs650 Special II. Bought it new in 1980, lost it to the recession in the early 80's. I spent a lot of time on that bike for the few short years I had it.
