I took my first bow hunting kill on the 4th. It was a doe nut.
It wasn't my best shot but he was on the move. I made a grunting noise to stop him but he kept right on moving. I hit him in the spine and he went right down.

Nice kill. Kaley is putting a bait pile out back tomorrow. We will see what it turns up. If we get a buck and post a picture with your truck independence tire in gaylord has a contest so pic with most likes gets wheels tires and lift kit.

Saw 8 deer Saturday in mid Mi. No shooters at this time. Had some turkeys come visit for my entertainment pleasure. Got bombed by falling acorns and pissed of tree rats.

Maybe it is the pic but what the fuck did that thing dress out at like 47 lbs? Looks a tad small. Nice shot there Chef. Want my address to send some vension jerky?

I'm beaver hunting this year. It's tricky business. You don't use your rifle, you use your gun, you rifle is for shooting and your gun is for fun.

Oh yeah and I might go deer hunt in November if I can find some time. No bow hunting for me this year unless it is after Dec 1.

Mud, I didn't weigh it but it was a decent chunk of meat. I hunt a lot of small game. If I'll kill and clean a rabbit or squirrel a small deer is no problem. I couldn't hang in for days because the weather was in the 60's. He was in the freezer the next day. It's great meat, there was only a little fat around the ribs and a couple globules along his spine. The first deer I horde but #2 I will share. When I get number 2 I'll start whipping up the front shoulders into sharing jerky.
Goos luck with your hunting. Cheboygan county is the place to go, they don't have as harsh antler restrictions. You can't eat the damned antlers. I am down to my restricted license so during rifle season I can only get a 4 point on one antler so essentially I can get a 7 or 8 pointer. I have to make another doe kill during bow season because the chance of seeing a monster Buck is basically negative.

My youngest daughter shot the beast on the right. My son in-law got the one on the left with crossbows in mid Mi.

congratulations Hawgrider, those are wonderful looking beasts. I've been watching the same 3 does run around my blind for a week now. I saw one buck, a 4 pointer, not legal to shoot with our antler restrictions. I'll probably knock a doe down soon, I just don't want my season to be over so soon.

You have the best eater enjoy those back-straps. I'm heading up Halloween weekend to see if I can catch the rut and try to whack one with my crossbow before the gun opener. My freezer is empty:(

The pre-rut has begun. I have a nice buck rub that appeared right in front of my blind about 4 days ago. That's right where I keep seeing the does. It's the exact same spot where I dropped my deer in the opening pic and where I saw the 4 pointer. I have 3 blinds on this property. One for me, one for my hunting wife and one for my daughter. Tomorrow evening my daughter is going to grace me with her presence so I'm going to put her in my blind so hopefully she can smack one of these does. I'm down to 1 license and she has 2. She uses a cross bow that she bought with some prize money from a writing contest a few years ago. I use a compound bow that my hunting wife gave me, it used to be her late husbands.

The car going 70 mph in the other lane on M59 went deer hunting last night. Coming back from dinner with some friends, a deer crossed the highway right in front of me, then turned back and a car that was a bit ahead of me took it square full on. Deer guts went everywhere. I heard a small piece hit my car but I dont see it, maybe when it gets lighter out I'll find a mark.

I was going to stop to see if the guy needed help, but he kept going, something I find remarkable.

Wow, most people would stop to check their car. That's the way I do not wish to hunt.
