After being bit by the horsepower bug via my V-8 302 in the stang, I decided I want to do up my bike. First is a stage 1. I have never had one before. My bike was just that fast because I out skill you foolios!!! :fu2:

So I ripped the air cleaner and exhaust off in prep.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9203_zpshpt3khfb.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9203_zpshpt3khfb.jpg.html)

The old mufflers and air cleaner have served me well.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9204_zpsrl5tw8bc.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9204_zpsrl5tw8bc.jpg.html)

The stock heat shields will be reused with my aftermarket header.... and will receive some fresh high temp powder.

Just waiting on parts, then powder, then install.... :eightball6:

Sensei.... looks good! Good choice on this. When Jeff ceramic coated my Reinharts he was using a new product he never used before. Best on the market according to Jeff. That system looked like it came out of a new factory box when he was done with it. Cost me 3 bills.

Why powder and not ceramic?

Ceramic is delicate and powder is tough as hell.

Got some parts in this week. Got around to working on them.

Here's my old stock exhaust header that was at a time ceramic coated and then wrapped. It's time to be retired
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9243_zpszzciblfc.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9243_zpszzciblfc.jpg.html)

I picked up a couple tools. The primary locking tool for because.... the O2 socket because of the auto tune and using the narrow & wide bands. This will make life easier.

The Fuel Moto Jackpot stainless steel polished ceramic exhaust is not only amazing to look at, it comes with a lifetime warranty.

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9261_zpsf1uujycn.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9261_zpsf1uujycn.jpg.html)

I ended up ordering a rain sock from RSD, after I noticed it didn't come with.

And to tune all this wonderfulness; a Dynojet Power Vision setup
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9248_zpslolopb9w.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9248_zpslolopb9w.jpg.html)

Of course the Power Vision unit itself will help tune it, flashing the stock ECM, pull ECM codes, see power graphs and a bunch more jazz. Plus for a $200 license fee, I can flash as many bikes as I want with the one unit.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9250_zpsl6tdt3hd.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9250_zpsl6tdt3hd.jpg.html)

The Auto Tune Pro with wide band O2 sensors will allow me to get a perfect tune without hitting a dyno.
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9249_zpscoihplyd.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9249_zpscoihplyd.jpg.html)

So I will get my heat shields and the new mufflers powdered the coming week and by then I will be ready for the Power Vision hook up. Going to start it with the stock narrow band O2's and the pre-given MAP Fuel Moto gave me. Then once I actually get out, I will do an auto tune day when I will swap over to the wide band O2's and get a solid custom map.

Less heat transfer with ceramic.

Isn't this what you want with ceramic, Less heat transfer ? So your basically looking at powder G for more durability?

Kosher
02-21-2015, 11:06 PM
Ceramic holds the heat in the pipes, which is what you want. It helps with scavenging, but in reality the difference in performance is minor and subtle, so I get the choice to go with the more durable powder coating.

Gas Man
02-22-2015, 12:58 AM
Yeah what kosher said. Ceramic on the pipe is what you want. But high temp powder on heat shields for durability.

I know Moe, that will be the problem I'll have with it.

I've never had a problem.

Example: I rode from the middle of virginia through eastern tennessee, and up into kentucky. An entire day of solid downpour - not occasional showers, just driving rain with no letup.

Not even as much as a hiccup.

And thats just one example, there are plenty of others, but I will agree, in a good downpour, you arent concerned about how your bike looks, I'm just saying I've never used one, and I've been in some nasty rain without any issues.

Gas Man
02-26-2015, 10:08 AM
Yeah but I'd rather not chance it... I get out my rain gear, and the bike can have some too. LOL

That being said, I've been in rain so hard that cars were pulling over, but there were no overpasses so i kept riding. It was so bad that I filled my headlight with water about 1/3 the way up.

If your crossover hanger is the same as mine have fun getting it on. hard to get the thread on the bolt to bite to tighten up. Had to have a buddy squeeze with pliers so I could get the bolt to started. However I like this version better because the other style I had broke and I was dragging my header on the ground in a couple corner and scuffed the heat shield. Thankfuly frank at dragos sent me the new header both new heat shields and the hanger when all I asked for was the hanger.

Going to have to call Fuel Moto.

Moesride
02-28-2015, 05:29 PM
So if you cut a little off the top short of the swingarm and just tilt the clamp back a little, would that give you enough room to thread the bolt in to clear the touring link mount?
Looks like just tilting it back without even cutting any off the top may work.... No? Or would that give you a heat shield fitment problem?

Gas Man
02-28-2015, 05:40 PM
No heat shield issues this is under the bike.

I could cut off some on the top of it. However, if I have to add a zig and zag to the mount to get away from the touring link, I may need that extra length. I'm going to send an email to Fuel Moto and see what they say.

After I lowered my Ultra, my ultra center stand was too tall. So I removed it and worked out a deal with Ultra Al. So I bought a LoLo version but it was just a tad too short. So I had to add a plate on the feet. I got lucky and it only needed one 3/16" piece of metal. Cut the sizes, and welded them on... perfect fit!

http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9924_zpssgpp4d9i.jpg (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/cjclark69/media/Ultra%20Classic/2015%20Mods/IMG_9924_zpssgpp4d9i.jpg.html)

Yeah it's an EZup. But I lowered my rear and my front. My lowered rear would put me to a Street Glide level, but when I lowered my front as well I needed the Low Low.
Ultra is full size
Street Glide is lower
I ordered a Lower Lower (which was a bit too short)

If it was too tall like my ultra one that I sold to Al, it's hard to pull up and it starts to lift the rear wheel off the ground.

Those are inner thigh heat shields, standard on Ultras, that I had painted to match. (normally dull black plastic) They do work very well, as Sgt13 just discovered when he went without to having them on his Ultra.
