So what's on your mod list this winter ladies and gents?
For me, a new exhaust system. V&H true dual head pipes with cfr mufflers. Also plan on adding a tourpack for some long awaited trips next year.
So far I have the cfrs in...... how about you?

Those Fluted ends on the black look bad ass!! oh, and don't forget your Commander V(5) Tuner  looking forward to seeing it when its all done :rockwoot:
I might do a horn....but don't know for sure...I kinda like the Skull horn cover that I got....I really don't have any mod plans....going to pick up a low profile passenger back rest....gloss black and have Seatmaker recover the pad to match my seat....that's about it for me

I am re-vamping my suspension over the winter. I have already replaced the stock Air Shocks with the Progressive 444-4020 HD shocks. Next is the Progressive 31-2500 Monotubes.

I would like to finish up the Stage 1 as well. (Air Cleaner and Tuner)

Hmmmm....

Well, IF we don't buy a new bike (50/50 yet, buddy of mine just bought a brand new 2015 RG special), we will do a tour pack for a west trip (Prolly this) http://powerproductsparts.com/tpccw.html

Then I'm going to change the cams in the SG, little hoppier... and something with the seats on both bikes... just NOT sure yet. SG has 30k on her also, may rechrome some stuff, maybe repaint. All up in the air still. I'll let you know in April, that's when I seem to start the heavy shit...... ugh.

Consider a Power Vision. As you know, the Power Commander stays on your bike, it becomes another potential point of failure (one of our riding buddies on our way to Sturgis this past summer had a failure). The PV is a flash tuner, and it allows you to mount it on your bike to monitor tons of variables in real time, record your ride and create an improved map, read codes, etc. Also free lifetime maps from FM

I like my thundermax a lot. Direct replacement of ECM but not cheap.

I really want to do mono tubes and new shoes but it probably wont be until spring when the garage converts back to now snow going vehicles to have room to work.

I would also like to add some audio to my tour pack.

First I've ever heard of anyone having this issue... I've put PC's on my last 3 HD's, and NOT one time have I had an issue. And everyone of them has been cross country... Tried and true in my book. (as far as the maps, I've changed shit plenty on them, just always go to there website and down load a new map)

Damn it Keith....LOL. After talking with Brian at Fuel Moto and convincing myself to go with the PCV, I am now strongly considering going with the Power Vision instead. I Like the idea of a flash tuner plus it not having to stay on the bike if you wish, unless you want to mount it on the bars for all the rest of the crap it performs for not really a ton more money. Kinda idiot proof, right out of the box. Why not right,...
Anyway, disassembled my exhaust system this morning. I'm expecting the V&H duals tomorrow and I already have the CFRs as you know so I will be reassembling tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thank Keith... Pipes came with bike specific washers which are designed to take the right foot board out ( between the bracket and frame) just enough not to cause the problem you just mentioned.

I managed to find a guy (HOGPRO) from the HDForums.com that had a pair of Double Fluted in stock. I went ahead and bought them and they will ship tomorrow. My wife liked the Double Fluted in the first place, so I it will all work out in the end. :)

Good deal Klimo. Double flutes are nice. For some reason I thought you had gone with Iron Aces speed shop. $662 on the double flutes with free ship. Anyway, glad it worked out for you.

On a different note that you will be facing soon. The pcV vs. Power Vision..... I ended up going with the PCV for my tuner. Talked to Bob at fuel moto Monday to make sure they had the right map for my specific set up , all good. Should have the pcV in my hands tomorrow .

Klimoman
11-25-2014, 09:13 PM
You were going back and forth from the PV to PCV... What was the final deciding factor? I was going with PV all along, but I want to hear your reasoning...

Moesride
11-25-2014, 10:03 PM
Your right on me going back and forth on this. I guess it boiled down to me really not needing the additional information the PV will give and the fact that I just would not mount it on my bars ( not that you have to) at an additional cost of $200, I just don't need it. The PCV comes pre-mapped for my bike and a lifetime mapping support from fuel moto paired with those guys speaking very highly of their PCV.....so that's it.
If you plan on using the extras the PV offers, its for you. If not, the PCV will do the job. Tuck the fucker under your seat and faggetaboutit !

Klimoman
11-26-2014, 06:52 AM
I understand your thought process. I just think that maybe, just maybe one day I will use the additional features. I would rather have them and not need it, then to need them and not have them.

One more thing, not really a mod but you be the judge. Got a great deal on a new 2014 street glide seat take off I couldn't pass up this morning on flea bay. So I'm going to have my current SG seat covered with the gator pattern you see in the gator seat pic. This way ill have both seats, the new stock seat stays stock and the gator seat when I feel like putting that on. Probably going to gel both as well. Just the rider area since I don't have a passenger.

Both you Clowns are right on this.... Plans were to just cover my existing seat with gator. Then my Daigo buddy talks me into gel, which is a smart move. Then early yesterday morning I get on eBay and find a new 2014 take off seat with 4 minutes left to bid and I had no intention of buying or looking for anything. So.... won it for $102.50 Awesome deal I think.
That's the story behind doing the two seats now, one gel , one gel gator.

I do not plan on mounting the Tuner to the bars, but I like the additional features it comes with compared to the PowerCommander. I like the fact that I can take it with me if I ever sell the Harley as well. Jamie also told me that they sell 10 PowerVisions to 1 PowerCommander.

So that was my reasoning for going that route...... :)

Good deal Klimo......glad to hear your going to be firing that bad boy up soon. Definitely nice that you can take the PV with you if your bike is sold but I think the PV actually " marries " to your bike. I may be mistaken on this but I think that if you decide to put in on a different bike there is a charge of $200 or something like that to do this by Dynojet. Anyway, cool. Switchbacks a nice looking bike . Definitely different than your former SG but it shares a lot of similarities in my opinion . If you have a little back trouble , its still a 700lb bike. With a 6 speed trans and the 103, abs..etc..... awesome! Depends on how much weight you and your back can handle without hurting. Not a hugely lite bike for sure. I like it though Jess.
I also really like the Fat boy lo. Great looking bike. What's the weight on that?

Now I need to sand , prep. and eventually paint. Needs very little prep work really .
Also picked up the liner that looks great and fits like a glove. I have yours as well Lance, you can see it sitting on the open box. This may be a little tough to ship at a reasonable cost because of the size and shape. I can if you want, ill find out what the cost would be. I'm inclined to agree with you both Keith and Lance. I've done some research on these speakers and at best I was on the fence before I bought them. What pushed me over was the price I paid for these. Figured I give them a shot. As far as the small magnet goes, apparently its made of a high flux strength Neodymium magnet....:idk: so according to j m size doesn't matter on this. Some people love them, some do not.
We shall see. Nothing to lose, just speakers at the end of the day right.

Made a difference for sure. Tightened up the bass and overall sound for the better. I can definitely tell the difference with the pads. Now is it a " holy shit" difference with these pads....no, but a damn good overall sound improvement for just a few bucks. I'm happy with it.

Need your opinion on this fellas ....im on the fence about it. Maybe your impute will open my eyes a bit. Functionally the rack on the Pak is best to do for sure but as far as aesthetically, which way looks better..... with or without the stealth rack on the Pak. Couple pics of rack on and rack off.Could use you input.

Was just looking at another post and Owl mentioned a reduced tension clutch lever pull. I have been thinking of doing this for a while paired with a reduced reach lever. Any of you guys have or have had this set up before ? I'd like to do this before riding season gets here which realistically is not that far from now. Issue is that this is something I'm not to confident in doing myself.
So what's up G......want to start out the GMG year with a reduced tension/reach clutch lever and see what we can fuck up on my bike? We just won't let Bagger D near it and we should be good.....

I could be completely wrong about this, but I think in 07 or something Harley started using the easy pull clutch in stock bikes, I'm not sure what would be available for newer bikes.

[edit] well, I am indeed wrong.

From doing some quick reading, most of the ones above work by increasing the lever travel in order to reduce the required pressure, not sure that would work for you, Moe.

AIM has an expensive option which claims 40% reduction, might be worth looking into. Truthfully I think this is the one I have, I'm not convinced its easier.

https://aimcorp.myshopify.com/collections/vp-clutch-series/products/vp68lt-for-98-and-later-bt-vp022-68lt

Might be worth a call to them to see what they say.

Moesride
02-03-2015, 11:10 PM
I see that. A 40% reduction at lower rpm getting heavier as they go up, that's fine. This looks very interesting to me outside of your NOT being convinced its any easier. This is not so good in review. Definitely going to call them..... and thanks Keith!

I think I'm going to stop in at "The Shop" tomorrow and see what those guys have to say about getting the clutch lever closer and less tension on the squeeze . I think that's the ticket. A friend of mine told me to go see them after I mentioned it to him last night. Not saying I want them to do it , I'm saying perhaps he can give me the best way to go about it doing it myself. I'll buy the parts from him of coarse . We shall see.

Just thought I would mention what a top notch company swine box is. As I was prepping, painting, assembling the tour Pak, I broke a very important guiding retainer clip that is needed to hold the cable from the keyed opening button to the actual latch that locks the lid to the box. I forced it and snapped it. Mike Wyman the owner asked me how the hell I managed to do that meaning I'm the first to do so... woohoo !
Long story short he sent me a whole new lock set with two clips on both sides ( the black clips (2)are on the top of the key set in the pic). FREE of charge! His cost on this is $20 Plus his shipping cost was $5.75. He refused any money. He mentioned that customer satisfaction is their goal. Great guy, great company. He also owns Knucklehead liquidators , selling new OEM Harley parts at substantial discounts.
He'll of a guy.......

Thanks Jim. I think this is what I will do. If your happy with it then it works for sure. Im going to Order it. May need a little help on installing this. Any takers..? LOL

I was looking over their site again Owl and I'm not quite sure which to order. 09/13 tri glide? Is this it? Also states that I would need to upgrade the clutch spring because on the two wheel touring models the clutch wiz alone won't work. They haven't done much testing on the two wheel touring other than the tri glide, dyna ? I'll contact them as well but may get a quicker reply from you or someone here.

owl
02-07-2015, 10:55 AM
Yes the 09/13 tri glide is the correct one. The primary cover has to be removed and I think a special tool ( I have the tool ) is used to change the clutch release. Your clutch as is should be able to handle the HP and your driving habits. I used a stronger clutch spring, then added clutch wiz to reduce the pull at the hand lever. Without changing the clutch spring, Clutch Wiz will reduce lever pull a huge amount.

Moesride
02-07-2015, 11:07 AM
Ok, thanks Jim. I think ill order the spring along with the Clutch Wiz. I'm going to talk with them Monday before I order but this set up should work fine for me. May need to borrow the specific tool you mentioned for this if your ok with that? I'll post up Monday as soon as I talk with him. Thanks

owl
02-07-2015, 11:29 AM
if you use the stronger spring the clutch wiz will reduce the lever pull back to what you have now. Using the clutch wiz with your stock spring the lever pull will be much less then what you have now. If your looking for less lever pull then factory, just use the wiz and don't change the spring.

Put my adjustable riders back rest on last night. This set up is actually better than I had expected . Fits me perfectly. Im very happy with it. A little tedious to install having to move everything out of the way but once on, its great. Waiting on a new black HD stealth rack for the tour pack to get here since the one I had took a fucking big time hit during the powder coat process. Sometimes these parts can be tricky to coat and you end up with a pricey useless piece of shit turd in your hands.... oh well.

Moesride

Can't wait... been 15 months since I rode thanks.. The powder process pitted the thin HD metal/ chrome so it looked like hell. We decided to do a texture finish to hide the imperfections, well that took me from the kettle to the fire. In order to strip and redo it would cost me to much. So I was better of buying a brand new OEM HD rack already in black Sucks but happens sometimes .
