Moe did you order the Clutch wiz?

I talked to Dennis Swan @ clutch wiz on this Jim and he told me pretty much what you said. Yes the CW will work on my SG without the spring but any aggressive or hard rpm pulls the clutch may slip. Not my riding style so should be fine. I should get 8-10 lb. with the CW and stock spring. Anyway he said if it doesn't work out for me to just send it back. So I'll order one up. I'll let you know when I get it , could use your help.

Just ordered the CW. Bought the spring as well , no plan on using it but good to have just in case. Even with the 480 spring I would be @ 12-13lbs. compared to the stock pull @ 16-18 lb.

Well, mod season has come to an end , for me anyway. Picked up a tour pack and Accessories hanger today for storage in the garage plus a set of adjustable wind defectors along with a 9" stubby antenna to fit nicely under the tour pack. Game over for this year......

:lmao: Oh wait! remember this?!! :lmao:

Clutch Wiz and spring came in last Tuesday. I think I'll put in on sometime over the weekend. Straight forward install, nothing I can't handle. Also painted my new tour rack to match the Denim color. Drilled four holes in the pack lid and installed it. The rack install is one of those things that should have been easy as all hell to do. Damn thing gave me an unexpected hard time........45 min. install took me damn near 2hrs. Don't know what happened there!

Be careful with the clutch adjustment. Do the adjustment several time to get the feel.

I knew you wouldn't be able to leave the rack non-matte. :lmao: Looks great!!!

Be sure to let the clutch slack out before you take that clutch plates apart... I'm all about coming over to help... you will probably not call though...

The clutch adjustment is different with clutch wiz than stock and the adjustment is important. Do it as instructed and do it several times.

Gas Man

Oh on the downtube clutch lever freeplay or on the basket adjust (the real clutch adjustment).

Moesride
02-21-2015, 07:05 PM
I'm reconsidering doing this myself, meaning by myself. It does seem straight forward but im no expert at adjustment of the clutch, that would be my only unsure issue on this. I'm in no hurry so perhaps down the road I can get one of you guys to guide me In the right direction .

Adjusting the clutch basket is important as they allow no free play. Tighten the adjuster and don't back it off. This takes a fine touch and after a try or three one gets the feel. That is my reason for adjusting several times.

Even when doing a standard HD adjustment I always touch the clutch rod multiple times....

So basically I'm going to install the spring with the CW bringing me down to a 12lb pull, this part I can see. As far as adjustments to the clutch, I'm adjusting the clutch cable adjuster as in Fig. 1-13 only. I'm not touching the clutch adjuster screw Fig. 1-14.....is this correct fellas?

Installed the clutch wiz early this morning. Easy install really. Took me ever bit of an hour including adjustments. I left the stock spring in so I will keep tabs on any slippage issues I may or may not have. If I do have slip problems I'll remove the stock spring and install the evolution 480 spring I bought and there I go. This mod I'm thinking took my pull from 16-18 lbs to 8-10lbs for sure. Big time difference. I'm happy with it...... time will tell. Few pictures from start to finish.

Yes, had to adjust at the clutch cable as well as releasing the Jam nut and adjusting the adjuster screw rod.

Moesride

Video did help and thank you for that. Only difference was, with the clutch wiz when you get the adjuster rod just right in sink with the clutch lever you tighten the jam nut down without backing it off 1/2 a turn or so per HD. Worked out nice.

Ok, now we just need to get past this fucking hellish weather which forces us to be *dicking* around in fucking garages vs actually fucking riding.

WHY DO WE LIVE IN THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE?

Sorry, I just had to rant, I need to fucking ride my goddamn bike. I'm starting to climb the walls

Ever since I started snowmobiling the mods have pretty much stopped and this year loving up north and riding the sled I enjoy it as much as the bike so still want more snow haha.

I'm convinced that Mods are only done because we go nuts over winter not being able to ride. It must suck to have the bike down for a few days doing mods in areas you can ride all year.

Ok so on the mod season being over thing...... Not quite, fuck me! Asked Dave to come buy and kick my ass today and break my computer, I need to be stopped! So on that note picked up a K&P micro filter from Mad Dog the other day. Soon as it warms up I'll change my oil and install the new filter. Also picked up a set of already painted denim black vented lowers with the quick detach hardware. Ordered a set of HD boom audio speakers with pods to throw in them as well. Plug and play on this since I already have the harness installed from the xm I put in a couple months back. So all I need to do now is ride the piss out of the fucking thing......

RedneckMedic

Put my lowers on today with quick detach hardware . My buddy will be over Thursday to drop the boom audio off to me. Should be a quick install but I need to wire it so I can detach the lowers easily. This whole mod winter for me has been geared towards making the SG a comfortable long distance bike while keeping everything on a quick detach basis. So if I want the bare bone SG back I can do it in a few minutes. I'll get a pic of the speakers as soon as I install them. I'm happy with it so far....

Gas Man
03-03-2015, 11:36 PM
Damn Moe you got an ultra classic!!

You need to use the water proof style connectors for the speakers... similar to the mechanics ECM plug and the Assecory plug under the seat...

Moesride
03-04-2015, 09:26 AM
Yah your right, Ultra for sure...All the accessories are coming off today and put up on the storage rack. Only using the tourpak, and hard lowers for trips. That was my intent all along.

Bike looks awesome chain. So did you use the two sided tape or silicone to adhere it? I used the tape but thinking silicone may be better. May make it harder foe someone to just yank it off. Any thoughts ?

I thought about that, but most people don't even know how it's on there. I think the 3m tape probably will hold better.

YOUR bike is rocking BTW!
