So my BIL decides to purchase a bike we can tare down and turn into a café racer style bike. So last Tuesday we take a ride up to Flint to pick up a 05 Suzuki 650 boulevard.
Haven't started anything yet but we are going in a few directions of what the paint and seat color should be.
First pick is of the bike. Second pic is what it will look like.... Not in black thought.
Perhaps you guys can give your impute on paint / seat color? Your Opinions on what scheme you would do? Blue, green, racing stripes, .......tan, brown ,black seat ???

Black cherry with red metallic racing stipes. One of the stripes bigger than the other. Then do a brown leather seat from Scott. Finish off with nice chrome and polish everywhere else except fork lowers done in the same black cherry color.

Its been a slow go but started working on this racer again. The final frame cuts where done yesterday and then we started to rebuild. Had to lower the front 2" so off with the forks. Reassembled those and moved on to putting some of the controls together ( bars, tach and Speedo, controls) I'm thinking a few more Sundays and she will be back together. BIL and I are going to attempt to paint our own tins, tank ,seat ,sides...lol. Bright green with gold stripes running up top. Oh, and we also reassembled the rear tire and put it on the bike.. rear wheel started as a 15" but now she's at 18" to match the front. No pic of that but ill get a few as we go.

Very Nice I like the strip all paint and clear coat hell maybe even add some paint to make it look like rust. I do think maybe you should add a another cylinder to that motor.

Thank you Gents!... Its been fun for a couple of learn as you go schmucks. Hope it run after where done..lol. As far as paint, we have a few guns G, thanks for the offer.
Bdog, you sir are a man after my own heart. I pushed for this project to go forward with a sporty instead of a savage simply because I love the twin configuration better than a single cylinder. But it all boiled down to whos flipping the bill.... and it wasn't me, soo....savage it is.

Put a little more work on this over the weekend and this is where were at. I think one more day or so of electrical, carb and tin work will have us just about finished.

Moe I did notice one thing it may just not be installed yet. You really need a air Temp gauge very import to know if its to hot or cold to ride. You can take all my gauges off the Road Glide but that one Thank YOU HD.

Good one Danny boy! Lol You may be right on this.

There is a lot to be said for lack of gauges makes for a less stressful ride I have my Power Vision set up with all the gauges engine temp Air intake temp an so on. Sitting at a light watching my engine temp go to 333* thinking oh shit..... it would have been better to not even know.

Put a little more work into her today. Wrapped up some electrical. Installed the de- compression lever and tore the carb apart, re- jet and installed. Just need to wrap the paint up and install it along with the seat and side panels and waalaa! Were doing the paint ourselves . Heres a pic of the tank almost done. Well have all parts finished by Tuesday and should be a finished running bike by the weekend.

I think the bright colors look good for this style of bike..thanks. I guess it would be a British green Lee. Forget the actual name of the paint but its green with gold striping. Should be all together running by Sunday. Did some electrical last night and that's just a pita , takes forever.

Finally buttoned this little scoot up . Took us about 10 hours today but we got it. Only thing we didn't do is fire her up. Just got to late as we lost daylight. I think it turned out pretty good for a first time project . We had way more time into it than we had originally figured but there were a few things we had to do twice over .....urgh!! I think we probably had 50hrs total in this project..lol. Paint was a pita for sure. I think next time well have it painted by a pro. Next on our radar is a sporty rat bike bobber style scoot....lol

Old thread but couldn't resist putting this up. Here's the end result of not checking your bike for loose parts before you ride it.....Especially one you assembled . It was ran over after it vibrated off. New muffler on order...
