So I started this with a requirement for new lights bc I couldn't see at night. I bought some DayMakers. Then I decided since I didn't spend a grand I set aside for upgrades this year I should get a new fender to show my new rims (got last year). The one I picked didn't come painted so I knew I had to go to the painter. If I was going to do to the painter, I mind as well do the interfairing too right. I was going to have to be done at some point. Since the fairing is off Chris and Moe suggested I do speakers. It just made sense. Would hate to have to pull it off twice. I sure didn't push back much. Ordered an amp and new speakers today. I hate my head unit but I refuse to swap that out so I took a page from Lance's book and picked up a sweet cell mount for the dash. I'm thinking I can use that for music / gps. I am now blocking all forums except this one for the rest of the year. Im cutting up my cards because I can't seem to stop now that I started. There is more crap I want to do already and my bike is in ton of pieces. LOL.

Thanks for you help Chris and Moe!!!!

A bit pricy but they look awesome in person. Had a set of the standard Harley style on there for a bit but didn't really care for the look. These blend right into the seat. Skippers bike looks awesome with this style

Ahhhhh yes, it is a sickness. I’m in the middle of tour pac hinges and latches, saddle bag latches, headlights, satellite radio, windshield mounting. And, I got the call; my inner fairing paint is done. Now it’s polish and wax all the pieces before assembly. I realize there is no cure for this illness.

I just got back from the stealer today. Had to buy new trim ring for headlight I'm installing and the module that allows the passing lamps to stay on when the hi beam is on. Off with the fairing again...LOL. (Captain and Diet Coke is the trick!)

Good news is I won some cabbage playing Texas Hold Em last night so what's better to spend winnings on than more stuff for the Harley!

You don't have to pull the fairing to do the headlight hi beam on wire. It's just behind the switches. Reach your hand up there and pull the harness out.

I was thinking the fairing had to come off to plug in the new LED passing lamps...No?

No sir... all plug and play in the bucket.

Not even for the headlight does it require a fairing remove... that means no fairing pull.

After watching this 6 times................it looks like the mount provided in the 06 kit will work for the 05. Once I install my 05 conversion plates.......I mount the current model speaker adaptors. The mount uses these holes so I should be good. keep ur fingers crossed for me.

Save that link and watch it as you install the amp and speakers.... I told you I am a Google/YouTube Mechanic.... Saved me $2K I bet this winter though......

No need to thank me, I just stood around and drank beer.... BUT I felt I drank the beer quite efficiently... so you are welcome I guess... LOL

If it ever warms up we can hammer out adding the new amp and speakers..... If you want to try it on your own that's cool as well..... You know how to get ahold of me if you need some help.....

Stopped by the Harley Dealer. This time I really did buy some matching passenger floor boards that Angela kept mentioning. Not sure why that is the one thing she cares about. They were $180.......but had to get those to match what I already had. Annoying.

I think on my next bike I am going to shoot for not buying one HD product. Not a single one........all aftermarket crap. Anyone tried that route yet? I think I'm gonna try those banana boards too. They are expensive until you add up the cost of a cover and insert to try to clean up the mothership's product.....then the price doesn't standout as much.

Note: Never leave any of you nice stuff with me. I fucking walked the outter into the door jam this morning and put a huge scratch into it. Ugg. Guess who is getting a new paint job next winter?? Dumbass is. lol.

Well Skipper, I rode close to 25 miles today and can’t say for sure the windshield mounting made much difference. It looks cool as shit. I plan on riding tomorrow with a different helmet and that may change things. I really like the way it looks and I’m happy I did it. If you’re out and about tomorrow, call me.

Could you put spacers in to give it more of a gap?

YES I’m having similar thoughts

The gap in a Madstad, granted is adjustable, but even at its lowest point its a pretty big gap, I dont think you can get the gap to be that wide. But it still would be interesting to see how much of a difference a larger gap makes.
