As outlined in my Car Change up thread (http://www.twowheelmichigan.com/showthread.php?5284-Car-change-up-at-Gas-Man-Garage), I got this Mustang below as a "beater". It was nicer than it's intended purpose.. but still I kept the repairs and mods in respect to it's intended purpose... The car the day I purchased it.

That being said... about 2.5 months ago I needed to get a panel repainted... big scratch. But there en-lies the problem. The paint on this car was a 5 year old Earl Shibe and it was showing it's poor quality. It was pealing where they taped instead of removing trim/molding, it had lots of defects in the paint job. I called it 10' paint. But again... in respects... it was fine. But if I repainted a panel and a half, it would stick out like a boner in sweat pants. So I made the harsh reality that I was going to half to pay out some big money... whole car re-paint.

I had the entire car worked over. All the trim, moldings, door handles all replaced. Side mirrors & wiper arms refurbished. Replaced the trunk/deck lid with a perfect Ford metal lacking the luggage rack ugly; and had the emblem shaved while there. I also went with body color painted side moldings, but kept the upper belt trim black. Also, replaced the front headlights to a more modern set.

If you guys ever need any collision or repaint jobs like this. I have been using this shop for nearly 20 years. Family owned and ran gives you the greatest pride in their work. You tell them Chris sent you.

Anyway onto the car...

I picked it up today... had to get it home before the roads got even worse...

The pictures don't do the car justice.. not by even the slightest. You can't see the defects in the before pics, nor the improvement now. But I got it home... so happy to see it back in the garage.

Wait till you see what's next... the game has changed, and there are big mods coming. Can we say "another toy"?!

Till then, I will now begin to outline the repaint job.

This ends up being a bunch of material so it instead of just clearing over it and dealing with the orange peal later, it's done correctly here. 1,000 grit wet sanding

Even before I decided to upgrade the power I knew I would get new rims to match the new paint...

Ordered a set of 17" pony replica rims, in black with chrome lip. 8" fronts on 245 and 9" rears on 275. (stock are narrow 16s)
