Since nobody has posted in this section I'll start.

I have a 1996 FZR600.* Possibly going to see it shortly and just keep my Vulcan but we shall see.

I used to have an 03 CBR F4i... that bike was Cat's a$$...

Also my Supermoto rode like a sportie... not as fast on a straight line, but on the twisties, you had to try real hard to keep up.

The rebel is great, I'm getting 70mpg and I am doing a few things to extend that further* :P.* I went so fast on it a few months back that I blew off the exhaust :o.* Not really lol but one of the exhaust studs broke so I am currently working on it and am going to mod it a little further.* Just wish it had a larger tank.

12-10-2008, 03:42 PM
Have you seen the new Suzuki TU250 coming for 2009? Same idea as the Rebel, only with the "retro" look to it...

Here's a pic-

My girl had a ninja 250 for her first bike, I loved that thing. I added 1 tooth to the front sprocket and went down 2 in the rear to drop the RPMs at cruisin speed, and it was a blast to wind up and got phenomenal gas mileage. 60s usually. She's on her 4th bike now, an 08 Yamaha FZ6, with MIVV pipes and a power commander, and I have an 08 Suzuki B-King. Both bikes are great, but I must admit, her bike sounds way better than mine with those cans.

12-12-2008, 07:54 AM
Nice FZ; I've always liked those.

I think Two Bros has a replacement exhaust for the B-King now, though it might be one of the others. At any rate, I'm sure there not all far behind if not on the market already.

A few weeks ago I passed one on the road and was surprised how quiet it was, even though it was all stock, I was expecting a bit more I guess.

Anyway, nice bikes you have there, and you ride with your other half too. Cool! My wife rides with me, but nowhere near as often as me.* ;D

12-13-2008, 11:53 AM
Thanks Doug, I did send a 1" holesaw up its tail to make it a lil louder, which worked, but that was on the very last ridable day we had. My work has been freighteningly slow, with not much hope for the future, so I won't be buying anything aftermarket for quite a while. This is the last year for a U.S. B-King, too. I actually think the 2 bros cans stick out the back too far, but the sound is nice n deep. Yea, Monica puts some major miles on her bike, I'm so proud of her, and she's as beautiful and cool as she is hardcore. She rides as much as humanly possible, every bit as much as myself. Her bike sounds fantastic when I'm riding with her, even from behind. It's so funny, I can hear an occasional missed shift of hers, but up till now she couldn't hear mine, HA HA! Ya get lazy ridin in traffic. That's great that your wife rides too. What does she have? We'll have to get together some time and do some riding.

12-13-2008, 01:51 PM
Last year for the B-King, really? Only a 2 year run, WTF? Didn't sell like they thought or what? I haven't heard anything about that...I guess it's the time to get one then since some day they'll be "rare", and that might make the V-Max group happy.

Are they replacing it with something or just dumping it due to low sales?

To answer your question, right now her and I are sharing "her Vulcan". I'll have my own sportier "something or other" by summer. I bought the Vulcan for her and I spent the summer riding it to see if I could get into the V-Twin cruiser thing, and I just don't enjoy it as much as I do standard/naked rides.

B-Kinger
12-13-2008, 06:12 PM
Yea, US sales were slow for it. I kinda understand why, its styling leaves lotsa people dismissing it. But once you take it for a ride, all is forgiven over any styling dislikes. The thing handles like it's telepathic, and the suspension and brakes are top notch. I can almost stand the bike on it's nose with 1 finger on the front brake. The power is everwhere and endless. No vibration at any speed, unbelievable gas mileage, and most bikers have no idea what it is. (epsecially since I've removed all the emblems and stickers) It's the best bike I've owned by a long shot. I'm a major V-max fan, having owned a highly modifed '93 for a few years. It'll be interesting to see how that goes in this economy. Of course I can't wait to find myself at a stoplight next to one on my B-King. I've seen the smoking tire down the quarter mile videos, and yea that looks like fun and power, but i personally am not interested in replacing tires every thousand miles, nor will a smoking tire get you down the road faster. I do love the looks and sound though. But i don't love 18 grand for the sticker.* *

2007 GSXR 750 Went from 2000 CBR929RR to that. The FI is much smoother on the Gixxer, but just as fun to ride.
Man. It takes a michigan day like this to really make someone want to ride.

I am sure your girl's cans look really nice b-king...

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just messing around bro.

You are very lucky and you too Doug... my girl does not like bikes and does not want to ride. Even on the back around town. Oh well...

Ok Mr. Stoppie... one finger.... wow... I can't do that... or have not tried.

Well, I have the VTX1300C that some of you saw in our ride last summer and would like to pick up another Supermoto again... most likely a DRZ400SM... 36BHP of pure madness!!! haha.

Schnogg, those 750s are insane. a 600 with litre bike power. Cool... Hope to see you out with us at some point.

gsxr6boy
01-22-2009, 11:12 AM
A 750 is a 600 with liter bike power????..... I wish my 750 had liter bike power >:D

A 750 is nice but it is a 750 in terms of power, not a 1000. Now... mine on the other hand hehe :P

schnogg
01-22-2009, 11:47 AM
I love it. I feel like the gixxr is a much more ergonomic riding position as well.

Berto
01-22-2009, 10:38 PM
I have ridden 600s, 750s and 1000s... and the reason for the 750 was the power (more) to weight (less that a litre) advantage.

Now that has really become less of a difference since the new litre bikes are smaller and lighter than the 600s I used to ride.

But the 750 class was top notch at one point and arguably the best sportbike class as far as power to weight...

Personally, I'd like a 600 at some point again. Those 600RRs are too much, when my F4i with 105BHP at the wheel was more bike than I could ever ride... can't imagine a 120+BHP 600...

Remember that 15-20 years ago, a litre bike barely had 120BHP.

B-Kinger
01-23-2009, 05:38 PM
In my humble opinion, the GSXR750 is and always will be the benchmark for all sportbikes. It's simply the best sportbike ever made. Perfect balance of useable power and handling; more torque than a 600, so you're not winding it up all the time, and not so sensitive and hyper like it's 1000cc sibling. If I could tolerate the riding position better for the type of riding I mostly do, I'd have one. I've even briefly had a CBR929, the last model Honda made before they started overengineering everything. For me, the 750 takes the cake. It's the Mustang GT of the motorcycle world.

Well, still need to jet it (and get air filters LoL). It was half naked and ran like crap (waaaaaaaaay lean), but it did fire up and run around the block. At this point, just going to get it fixed up/buttoned up and hold onto it for a season or so. Probably end up selling it to help fund another project bike next year...unless I get attached to it, then who knows! LoL

Love the Ninja man!

Thanks! It definitely doesn't look as nice as say a ZX-6R, or ZX-10R. (I'd almost say the same year 250R's look more like super sports compared to the 650R) Actually I have the outdated look but I don't really care. It was the great handling, decent fuel mileage, easy to ride characteristics, as well as some decent low end torque, and cheaper insurance rates compared to even some 600's that drew me to wanting to own one. As well as the upright riding position. Which makes it great for recreational riding as well as commuting (which I don't on my bike).

But I'm going to look into like an FZ1, or SV1000S, or even a KZ1000 for my next bike.
