Here it is through the eyes of Rick Mercer, who is kind of our Newfie version of Jon Stewart.

Funny but it does get some of the flavor of the event.

We were there for just over an hour. Ran down from London, stopped at "Timmies" for some much needed caffeine, then on out to Sandbanks Provincial Parkat the eastern end of Lake Ontario for the first night of our "Epic Ontario Ride". Then up to Algonquin Provincial Park,Mew Lake' for night number two. Crossed up and over to Kilarney Provincial Park at the north end of Georgian Bay for night number three. Picked up rain about midday, and it didn't end till the next morning. Broke camp headed north to Sudbury then east to Samual Champlain Provincial Park for night number four. As we crossed east towards our next destination I ended up losing my charging system about 500 miles from home. The one year old H.D. was toasted, so we got anothe one in Pembroke, a H.D. Canadian cost $160.00. Parts were unavailible for a proper repair so we decided to cut our trip short, heading back down to London stopping at H.D. dealers enroute chasing parts. None were to be had and it looked like close to a week to order them in from the states, at a greatly inflated cost. While in Pembroke we fully charged the new battery and I pulled all my fuses except battery and igniton. Rand with John on point and Mike covering my rear, no lights, guages or signals. Got interesting after dark and we got within an hour of London only to get lit up and ticketed by local L.E.O. in Listerol. $110.00 for improper headlight. We were going to be escorted to the city park to pitch camp and not be allowed back on the road until a repair was made.....I slipped my "light " fuse back in and we were allowed to proced. Got all of 15 miles before sucking the battery dead. Got a tow to London charged up and bungeed a flashlight to the top of my guages for the final push back to Algonac. Who'd have thought you could run almost 400miles on battery alone?

Stator died, no parts availible without ordering from the States, not going to wait a week over there when I can do a fix here for a third the cost. Just need to decide which way I want to go with this one. The latest set was a Big Twin 32 amp as the standard 22 amp Sporty simply couldn't keep up with driving lights, heated grips and an elec. vest. That's 1930's H.D. tractor technology at it's best,LOL! Never thought you could go that far on just the battery!!!
