My good friend Moe aka Moerides is in the hospital. I got the call Friday and wanted to wait till I heard back from his family before posting.

There was an accident at work involving them removing a wall. He has broken his left elbow, his arm, his right wrist, and his hip/pelvic bone. He's in the hospital and doped up pretty much all day for the pain.

I am in communication with his wife and brother and will update you gents as I know more. Please keep him in your prayers.

I'm guessing the only way he'd be able to tolerate visits from us knuckleheads is if he's doped up, LOL

Ok gents... owl and I have been talking about maybe taking up a collection. Moe has a family business and I'm sure he will be taken care of with insurance and what not. However, during shit like this, we think a little extra cash can't hurt.

I could just take up a collection, or I was thinking we could charge $10 a bike for any rides. If I'm not there I will appoint a member to take up the collection and be responsible for it.

What do you guys think?

We could all chip in to get a few gift certificates at a couple decent restaurants - often its very helpful to allow the family to go out to dinner at a decent place, vs fast food, or cooking.

Well we all know that Moe's favorite is round house.

But first thing would be to gather money.

I'm up for a donation. I know he wanted to be there for me in my lose of my Uncle. I'll definately be there to help him out. When he's ready for visitation let me know where he's at and I'll pay a visit.

Good luck Moe. Get better soon.

So do you guys think a straight up donation or a pay to ride thing?

RedneckMedic
10-13-2013, 11:12 PM
I think donations work better. Not cool to charge for someone to go on a ride unless its a memorial ride or something and the mans not dead just hurt.

It's only been 2 days since I spoke to his brother so I haven't bothered him. I think once a week will be enough for me to bother his brother with my meddling. I don't want to be that much of a bother.

If everybody is good with the idea... I will take up a collection. If you guys want to send e-money I can take PayPal money (be sure to send as a gift so PP doesn't take fees), I can give you my email for that.

You can also give me money on Sunday if you want.

I got a text from Moe today. He told me about his injury, and that he's going to be out of the hospital and in rehab in a couple of days. He will then contact me again. I told him that if he keeps in contact with me, I will keep all of you updated. The good thing is he's alive. The bad part, he didn't injure his face so they aren't fixing that.

I gathered up some money for the collection Sunday on the TWC ride...

But beyond that I was able to text with him a bit earlier... due to his injuries, they are estimating a solid 4-6 momths of heal time but at least that puts him in good condition for riding season next year. He also said he's enjoying the meds! ;)

I'm hoping to speak to his wife this week and will get to hear more about his health and see how he's doing beyond what he says. But otherwise, he seems to be in good spirits. I, with the money collected, picked up a gift card for his two favorite places to eat, added it and the names of those that donated to a card.

I was able to speak to his daughter at his house, I went there got his bike, put a few miles on it, put seafoam in it and filled it up with Sunoco Ultra 93. Ran it home and parked it in the garage. Per Moe the oil only has 2k on it so we will take care of that after he puts a few more miles on it next year. But the best news is...

Moe is coming home tomorrow!!!! He's on two wheels for another week or so till the docs clear him for weight transfer to his bad hip, but being home in itself will help his recovery.

Great news. Maybe in a couple weeks we can have a TWC where we would assemble at Moe's, he can peek out the window and wave if he's not up to greeting us on the driveway.

May be a bit much, tho. But these kinds of things do have a way of boosting people's spirits.

Wifey came home last night from work with a few pics of my new "bionic" hardware. Thought I'd put a few up here for the hell of it. It amazes me how these surgeons can put a guy back together. First pic is of my elbow just after they set it right before surgery. Second and third pic is elbow after surgery. Fourth pic is my femur (leg)after surgery. And lastly my right broken wrist. Broke the Pelvis in three spots too but I have no pics of that. I want to thank you again fellas for all your support man, means a lot to me.
