According to a newly-released study, a New York mother of two is eligible for in excess of $38,000 in annual welfare benefits – more than the startiing salary of a New York entry-level school teacher. Think that's bad? In Hawaii, that same mother would receive $60,590 per year.
The study, conducted by the CATO Institute, found that in addition to New York and Hawaii, welfare pays better than work in many states. While Hawaii tops the list at $60,590, Idaho brings up the rear at $11,150. , as reported by Breitbart (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/08/19/Study-NY-Welfare-Recipients-Eligible-For-More-In-Benefits-Than-Teachers-Make) . [I assume the beaches aren't as nice in Idaho.]
Indeed, the CATO study (http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/pubs/pdf/theworkversus.pdf) claims:
In 11 states, welfare pays more than the average pre-tax first-year salary for a teacher. In 39 states, it pays more than the starting wage for a secretary. And, in the 3 most generous states, a person on welfare can take home more money than an entry-level computer programmer.
The study found that 33 states and the District of Columbia offer welfare benefits that pay recipients more than they would earn from an $8-an-hour job. Twelve states and the District of Columbia offer welfare packages that pay better than does a $15-an-hour job.
Add in Obama's suspension of welfare-to-work requirements (http://washingtonexaminer.com/crs-report-number-of-able-bodied-adults-on-food-stamps-doubled-after-obama-suspended-work-requirement/article/2508430), and life on welfare can be a pretty good gig these days, as evidenced by the now somewhat infamous Cali surf bum (http://www.ijreview.com/2013/08/72344-obamas-food-stamp-program-ca-surfer-buys-sushi-lobster-avoids-work/).
There is no evidence that people on welfare are lazy, writes CATO senior fellow Michael Tanner. But they're also not stupid. If you pay them more not to work than they can earn by working, many will choose not to work.
Therein lies the quintessential problem with the nanny state. Since LBJ declared war on poverty, U.S. taxpayers have spent over $15 trillion (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/04/05/BOOMTOWN-2-Taxpayers-Have-Spent-15-Trillion-On-The-War-on-Poverty) on anti-poverty programs – a total nearly equal to the national debt. And where has it gotten us? Look around. Start with the surf bum.

CATO is a sock puppet for the Koch Brothers, aka some of those puppeteers that use their wealth to buy politicians and screw anyone not wealthy. They've been caught skewing and outright cooking data, worse than the flaming lib-tards in order to push agendas and disinformation that sadly too many conservatives pick up and run with, without fact checking. Just more string pulling to keep the common people pitted against each other whilst they cash in any way they can.

Remember kids, if something provokes an outrage in you, stop, and start looking for someone behind a curtain pulling leavers and twisting knobs behind a curtain. That's how the fuckers get us to do their bitch work with out noticing.
