I left later than I wanted - about 830 AM because it was pretty damn cold. Sunny, but cold. Mid 30's.

My first stop was the 2nd service plaza on the turnpike (starbucks!), after that it warmed up a bit. Never over 60, but not unpleasant. I didnt see one cloud until I was almost at my destination in Virginia. I only saw 1 other biker on the road, in PA, going the other way on the turnpike.

The trip was about 560 miles, took me 12 hours but I stopped for lunch for about 90 minutes between Donegal and Somerset in PA - a colleague of mine has a vacation townhouse in Seven Springs.

These pics are from the first rest stop after Breezwood in PA. A nice day for a long trip! I dont think my return trip will be nearly as nice, but oh well.

Thanks, guys - that inner sure is shiny!

Grabbing the cup with thick gloves on is a trick, I'm glad it didn't leave my hand and impale someone.

The audio was great, too. And truthfully I'm not all that tired!

Super cool. did you stay on the turnpike into and through PA? Those tunnels through the mountains are awesome and I love rappin the throttle in there, just about gives me a woody just thinkin about that sound. :rockwoot:

No trip would be made by without the Java but I'm not a big Starbucks fan on account they won't support the troops in a fight they don't have the power to stay out of. :coffee:

I had a late lunch with a peer on my team, he's got a condo in seven springs, so I dipped off the turnpike at Donegal, back roads to his place, then from his place to Somerset via back roads. Very nice!

I did go through the tunnel - fun!

The bike will be fine and you will dry. I rarely ever get through a MC trip without getting wet.

Agree. I was born wet. 75 and rainy is one thing, 48 and rainy is another. :)

I've done low 40's and rain on the turnpike. Ended up in chaps and rain gear with my good leather jacket as well. But then I was GTG

I rode here wearing Tourmaster overpants - nice and warm and I believe waterproof. I also have my rain suit, so I should be good.

Well sports fans, I'm stuck in Sandusky.

First part of the trip - Dulles area to Breezewood was chilly but sunny. Left about 630AM.

Stopped in Breezewood for some coffee and gas, it warmed up quite a bit during that stop.

The next part of the trip through just after Pittsburgh was really terrific - sunny and warm.

Then it got cloudy into Ohio and just outside of Cleveland it really got worse - lots of rain. Mid 40s but nothing terrible.

Then it kept getting colder, and my fingers were getting numb in my soaked thru gloves (supposedly waterproof ski gloves from Costco)

Then I really started worrying about ice, I swear I felt sleet, and my glasses were fogging on the inside. And my hands were really stiff from the cold.

So here I am in Sandusky..... <sigh>

Seriously? You are an ace, man. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow morning, but that is amazing for you to offer. I'm speechless! There's no way I could ask you do to that this far away. But I'm sure it wont be necessary
