My insurance increased by about 10% as well. No tickets or anything, it just went up :idk:

Gas Man

All State Farm was going up. That caused me to look around and price some shit out. Switched everything over. Bikes to progressive and everything else to meemic. Saved a crap load of cash.

Mudpuppy
04-02-2013, 04:36 PM
catastrophic claims is why - $624 to $681 ain't bad and way cheaper than $2,400 for progressive - what a fucking joke that is.

So - since I'm a new bike owner and don't have any more clue as to what I need in insurance coverage than the man in the moon, I went with what my agent told me to. Do I have what I need? Am I overpaying? The coverage below is for one year at State Farm.

What do you guys have?

That's odd, Allstate, State Farm, Farmers, and Dairyland were all $200-300 higher in price for coverage equivalent to my current Progressive policy.

Remo

That looks like a pretty good number to me but I would still get at least one other quote if I were you.

I have been with State Farm for 27 years I stoped calling other companies a few years ago as I had agents laugh and say no we can not touch that rate. They do make a nice chunk o change off me House, Cars, Boats, Bike.

I just got my renewal I will have to dig it up and post it up.. I know it's $681 for an 06 R1..

I use progressive for the bike and AAA for the truck. I've tried bundling and such and no one comes close on either companies prices for me.

I am what some would call over insured, but I call it insurance knowledgeable. I also have to carry higher coverages here for other insurance policies I carry.

Left side is for my Ultra with the huge extra coverages for all my assc add ons ($800 yr). The right side is for the nightster ($414 yr).

but even with all that added coverage, I'm only $1200 a year for both bikes!

call my insurance guy: 586-228-1313 Markus Insurance. They cover everything except my bike (would need to use progressive for that and re: my old statement progressive is 4x state farm on the bike). if they don't save you money I will wash and wax your sorry excuse for a bike.

looks good but up the deductibles and save yourself some money. $1,000 is the lowest I go on any deductible. if you don't have $1,000 available at any given time you don't need to ride - sell your bike and punch yourself in the nuts.

I don't like that idea Mud.

Gas Man
04-04-2013, 06:40 PM
The key is that they won't save me any money on my cars & house. Meemic blew the others out of the water. I had SF and their rates got insane for the bikes... I was going to pay $1500 with less coverage than I have now.

Moesride

My policy mimics your coverage on the Ultra G man........except for the accessories, $3000 on that. $758 total premium per yr through progressive

Mad Dog
04-04-2013, 07:58 PM
Man you guys pay some big rates. I have 300/500 with uninsured/underinsured motorist and a $500 deductible. I pay $348 per year.

Gas Man
04-04-2013, 08:50 PM
Really I'm not Mad... look at my Nightster. The ultra rates are higher because of the added $12k in add ons.

Also, should note that I get discounts with progressive for being a home owner, auto owner, PUP policy, etc.

You do realize it is free to call and get a quote right? Whatever money bags. Takes like 3 seconds to get another quote. I have shopped them all and this one will easily beat whatever "deal" you got going.

Gas Man
04-09-2013, 12:46 PM
I did all the shopping... and I don't see why one state farm would be different than a different state farm... quotes all come from corporate.

I really only shopped for my car maybe I should check around on the bike. I am paying $700 for my 13 RGU.

Not state farm - markus insurance. They will get you a better rate. I sent my insurance for everything except the bike to every insurance agency known to man and they all called and said no really send the real paperwork is this a joke (because the price is so low).

SportstersPaul
04-09-2013, 03:43 PM
Well I bailed out on Allstate as they climbed to $637. on my '06 Sportster. I'm now back with Progressive for $313. and the same coverage. Actually breaks down to $138. for Insurance, $175. for M.C.A.

Gas Man
04-09-2013, 04:37 PM
Yeah I spoke to them... they are under writing the same insurances that I've already checked. Safeco, citizens, progressive, etc... I checked those insurances when I dealt with EW Smith. Meemic smokes them with auto/home/pup. Perhaps you should figure out a way to get to Meemic. You have to have a connection to schools somehow, that's why it's so cheap, because it's exclusive. Call my agent Diane or John @ Mace are great to deal with. http://www.maceinsurance.com/

So when do you want to do that wash/wax?

Meemic here also for house and car no one can touch their rates, for the bike I have Progressive, about $480 for a 09 Harley (Dyna LowRider).

Gas Man
04-14-2013, 09:18 AM
For everything but the bikes. Meemic is 2/3-1/2 the cost of the cheapest rate I could find.

Mudpuppy
04-23-2013, 11:13 AM
I am not washing and waxing because you DID NOT get a quote. You called and asked what they were. Great. That doesn't mean a fucking thing. They deal with a lot of insurance companies. Have you ever priced Encompass? Nope. Take your entire fist and swallow it - good practice cause I will be over later.
