So many thanks to Chris and Lance - Both are class acts, who I cannot thank enough for a hard day of mods.

We accomplished -

Complete audio replacement: Including all 4 speakers, head unit (Sony Marine), amp (Biketronics), retro radio kit (allows you to use your handlebar controls). We fired it up for the first time and everything worked as planned - handlebar controls worked, and it sounded KILLER.
Tour pack hinges
Tour Pack Power port - which Chris, the wizard of all things electrical, wired up so that its always on/available
Air Wing Tour Pack Rack - I was very nervous about drilling my tour pack, but I have to say with help it came out *flawless*, perfectly aligned.
LED Tour Pack Light - Chris had a great idea to make it so that its is *only* a brake light (not a running light), so that it is much more noticable

Many thanks to Chris and Lance - very kind souls and I am truly speechless.

Lance of course was a HUGE help!

Everything besides putting the outer fairing back on, went flawlessly.

Ya it never goes back on easy and then when you change all the wirin around you never know what might be in the way. But is all got done. It was fun watching Kosher drill holes in his TP. Plus he brewed up some great coffee.

Gas Man

Yeah kosher was freaking out drilling those holes.

plus I got to pull some alhall on him with "fuck, not my bike!" :lmao:

Yeah, was definitely skeered of drilling, but it really turned out exactly perfect.

Then I've been thinking - so if I'm on a trip and I put a big ol bag on the rack, kinda makes the tour pack less convenient for quick access, to phone, smokes, etc.

I've never had a tour pack, how do yall handle that?

its not that bad really. once you have the gear strapped down to the rack, you can still get the lid open just can't let her lean on the hinges and the retention cable. have to basically open up just enough to get your hand in and the item out. make sure that anything that needs quick access is near the opening to keep it easy. Or use the saddle bags more often. Gas, has a pretty cool little tray that he added into the roadside bag that keeps things like the cell, tire gauge, little tools, and what-nots organized. I was thinkin about one such tray for myself.
Just gotta watch that 10# limit on the rack. (Heavy on the sarcasm there)

Very nicely done, aren't friends great!

Yeah Cave is right. You can do it... you just have to hold the lid open and get what you want.

And I have the fatbaggers saddlebag tray. Some like the road/low side (what I have), others like the high side. It depends on which one you go into most often, is the one I got the tray for.

I have the HK Radio and speakers on CL ($350 and $50), I thought I had them sold. Guy called last night, we set a time and place to meet, and on my way there, I got a text saying it wont fit his 02 bike. Its true, it will only fit 06-up, I forgot to add that to the listing.

Will see how many bites I get now...

Update - finally got er our today for a quick zip up to Romeo and back.

The audio sounds GREAT. Small issue with my right side up/down control sticking - I hope its just because its cold - if I try to skip a tune, it sticks in the up or down position which is fast forward not skip.

True that! First world problems, LOL

Might just be a cold temp issue.

Oh yeah... 1st world problems!

Well, here's another first world problem:

The unit will read max 128 folders, and max 500 items per folder.

Perfect. <sigh>

I really wanted to carry as much music on a single hidden compact device as possible so I bought four 64GB USB drives. I've got a lot of music, I want as much of it to be as accessible to me on the bike as possible. I dont want to have to pick and choose what I carry with me.

So this is going to require some re-thinking

Gas Man

You mean to tell me that you can't handle 64,000 songs? That's not good enough for you? 1st world a-hole problems! :lmao:

Well golly, thats a bit harsh!

Basically what I'll have to do is put every tune from each artist into one folder. A bit more work than I would prefer, especially if there are tunes with the same name, thus the same file name (think Grateful Dead, Phish, etc), but I'll figure it out.

It was dripping with sarcasm bud....

That is crazy that they'll get all funky with you about all that junk.

You looked around online for fixes to that? Easy fixes?

Hard limitations, so no work around.

Damn...

can you have folders inside of folders?

You can, but there's an overall limit of 128 folders, and 500 files per folder.

What about hooking up an external usb hard drive in one of your bags? Is it the radio that limits or the usb drive?

Yep, its the Sony unit that has the limitation of what it can read.

Gas Man

The Sony unit has a USB reader in it.

So 128 folders total, not just root folders?
