These are the provisions passed last night by the NY Senate.
It is expected to pass the assembly today and become law!
Remember the name ANDREW CUOMO!
He is our Dictator/Governor and has aspirations of becoming PRESIDENT!
Do whatever you can politically to stop this man!
This is no time to do nothing.
Call then write a follow up to all your reps so this won't happen to you.

The New York gun control provisions passed by the Senate late Monday and being considered by the Assembly on Tuesday cover several fronts.
Gov. Here's What's In The Plan:
-Under current state law, assault weapons are defined by having two "military rifle" features spelled out in the law. The proposal would reduce that to one feature and include the popular pistol grip.
-Make the unsafe storage of assault weapons a misdemeanor.
-Mandate a police registry of assault weapons.
-Establish a state registry for all private sales, with a background check done through a licensed dealer for a fee, excluding sales to immediate relatives.
-Require a therapist who believes a mental health patient made a credible threat to use a gun illegally to report the threat to a mental health director who would then have to report serious threats to the state Department of Criminal Justice Services. A patient's gun could be taken from him or her.
-Ban the Internet sale of assault weapons.
-Restrict ammunition magazines to seven bullets, from the current national standard of 10. Current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. An owner caught at home with eight or more bullets in a magazine could face a misdemeanor charge.
-Require that stolen guns be reported within 24 hours. Otherwise, the owner would face a possible misdemeanor.
-Increase sentences for gun crimes including for taking a gun on school property. The "Webster provision" would increase penalties for shooting first responders. Two firefighters were killed when shot by a person who set a fire in the western New York town of Webster last month. The crime would be punishable by life in prison without parole.
-Limit the state records law to protect handgun owners from being identified publicly. The provision would allow a handgun permit holder a means to maintain privacy under the Freedom of Information law.
-Require pistol permit holders or those who will be registered as owners of assault rifles to be recertifies at least every five years to make sure they are still legally able to own the guns.

This whole thing makes me angry. These weapons fire exactly the same number of rounds per trigger pull as nearly every pistol. They just look more fearsome. Combined with the fact that Columbine and VA Tech were both perpetrated with standard magazines says to me that this type of legislation will solve exactly zero problems.

The only thing thats promising is the mental health aspect.

Tennessee is looking real good. Nice weather, low taxes, friendly gun laws and great riding.

I think it can get as hot in TX as it gets cold in MI. My feeling on this is that I dont want to trade one extreme for the other, thats why TN is a good compromise. Yes it gets cold, but only for a few days, then its at *least* in the 40s. And this is a state where an investment in heated gear makes sense because there's almost never salt on the road to keep you from riding when by the temperature you might otherwise be riding.

Have fun in TX, I'll ride down from TN to hang out if its not too hot. :)

whatever losers.. if you said they have better roads for riding I would agree but facts is facts.. I go down south a lot and their weather / seasons really aren't much better in TN. If you said SC or TX or FL or CA or AZ I would agree. But not TN, over. Maybe a small infinite grain of sand better. Man up and go shovel my drive I got shit to do.

Called Senator Schumerís' office today. Told his aidAndrew that I found a lot of studies from the FBI indicating more guns equalsless crime but was unable to find any studies to support that the 1994 AssaultWeapon Ban saved any lives or lowered crime. I asked that he email me links soI could study both sides of the issue. There was a silence........He thenstated that these type of studies have never been done and that Nobama islooking into appropriating funds to study this in the future.
I guess all I can say is "I should have known". This is fucking New Berlin! This asshole, Coumo just fucked us all here in NY and they don't have any solid proof that it will help. Talk about a knee jerk reaction. Your a grandstander Coumo, a fucking grandstander and your in bed with Nobama unless your into black chicks then it might be his wife!
I expect by daybreak I will have choppers hovering above from homeland security.:biggun:

what a crock of shit. they are going to act now with data that says they are doing it wrong and then later try to manipulate data to prove themselves right

I am sure you are right about that. I bought the domain www.WNYTalks.com (http://www.WNYTalks.com) a few months ago and am in the process of setting up the website.
I will have tons of factual data supporting guns=less crime. I hope to piss a lot of politicians off. That will be a good measure of how well it works.
Will keep you guys posted. Also send any links to any pertinent info. Does not have to be just about NY.
