Steves desert home was just up the hill from my folks house when I was growing up. When he was in the desert I rode dirt bikes with him every afternoon when I got home from school. He rode Huskys, he was very good friends with Malcom Smith who was the distributor in SoCal, I crashed more times then I care to remember trying to keep up with him on my funky old Honda 160 scrambler. My folks used to think I was BSing them when I would tell them about riding with him. One Saturday morning we were all standing in our front yard and here comes old Steve up to the house on his Triumph with Allie on the back to let me know about the Elsinore GP. My folks and aunt and uncle were floored. I ended up going to the GP with him it was a great time. California was a motrcyclist dream in the 60's and I count my self fortunate to have experinced it!

All the stories have a central theme, me eating it big time trying to keep up. I still to this day can not think of a better more natural rider i hav e had the pleasure to ride with, not even Malcom.
