Hey. I'm a new rider and a new (to me anyway) Harley owner. I headed down to Maryville, TN this past November from the cooler confines of our Great Lake State, and I took the MSF BRC at Smoky Mountain H-D. Got back home and the search for my new ride was on in full force.

Rode home about 4 weeks ago from Motor City H-D in Farmington Hills on a 2003 FXD Super Glide! I am impressed with the handling, the comfort, and since it was a pre-owned bike, the fact that the prior owner had already done the stage one to it as well as changed the pipes to Screaming Eagle staggered shorty duals.

I've only managed to put about 300 miles on the bike so far due to the weather here. Snow, cold, more snow. I was hoping to get a New Years Day ride in yesterday but I being a new rider, I let the ice factor keep me inside.

This is my first bike, and at 50 years old, my son is telling me I am going through a mid-life crisis. I disagree. I say I'm finally waking up from my life-long slumber and getting ready to have some fun!

Looking forward to learning from you all on this site.

:welcome: Man.

I too live in Brownstown, so you're in poor company...

I have friends in Maryville, TN and go there at least once or twice a year. Love that area.

Post up pics of your steed!!

Welcome to Two Wheel Michigan! Really, at this rate it should be called "Two Wheel Brownstown", there are a growing number of members from that area, apparently!

Just tell em "mid life, no crisis" and ride the shit out of that thing.

Pics would be nice. Gas Man runs a pic of the month contest which I always lose, LOL

I heard my wife say "mid life crisis" twice over Christmas. Really kinda pissed me off. I gave up my toys, dangerous activities, and free time to raise my family. Now I am going back to the way I was, that's all. :kawi:

Now, if I come home with a Corvette........

Good point sprink!

And don't listen to kosher. I may be the ring leader but I don't control the votes.

welcome to the site. you did the right things:

1. You bought a bike
2. You came here and joined

Now the rest is just gravy. And if you give Gasman food he will help you win POTM.

Thanks guys! I will post pics of the SuperGlide as soon as I am allowed. I think I need to hit a certain number of posts before the site allows that option for me. I am looking forward to getting to know you all, and maybe get together with some of the Brownstown crew here sometime!

Gas Man, I am thinking of riding my bike to Maryville next fall, maybe take the advanced rider's edge class while I'm there. I'll have a season of riding in by then.

Welcome! From right around the corner in Gibraltar. Nice scoot, by the way! One of my coworkers bought his first bike at age 48. He asked me for advice on motorcycling, and I told him take a basic rider course, and get a bike. He did both and after a season of riding he told me he wishes he'd have done it sooner. I told him, don't look back with regret, look forward to all the fun you'll have riding!
