It's a sad day in a small community n-east of where I live.
Firefighters responding to a house fire were fired on upon arrival.
2 firefighters are dead and 2 have been transported to the hospital.
The gunman also died in a shootout with the police.
Neighbors were evacuated and four other houses burned to the ground before the scene was secure enough to allow firefighters to bring it under control.
This all started about 5:45 AM this morning.
Prayers go out to the victims and their families.
I have not linked to this story as I do not want this post to be part of the
media frenzy that is sure to follow. This asshole should not even have his name mentioned in my opinion.
What the hell is happening in this country!http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/images/smilies/11.gif

Yeah and how could that guy own those guns when he was a convicted murder? And why the hell was he out of prison in the first place?!?

Just more bad publicity on guns when once again it's a pyscho illegal gun totting idiot!

Yeah I read about that a bit ago, the lib section of my blog feeds lit up with it http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/12/24/1375651/career-criminal-set-a-trap-for-murdered-firefights-say-police/ current speculation is the guy bypassed the check by buying at a show where private sales aren't subjected to the check.

Just returned from my brother in law's in Chili Ny. He is the Chief of The Chili Fire District just south of where this happened. They are on scene and rendering mutual aid as i type this. Though the media is reporting this maggot died of a self inflicted gunshot the truth is that the police actually took him out. Yup this asshole spent 18 years in prison for manslaughter in the killing of his grandmother. He lived at this house with his sister who is now reported as missing. Most agencies involved suspect she may have been in the house when it was set on fire. Her remains may be discovered when they sift through the debris.
Also this derranged lowlife had a history of mental health issues.
Just another example of judicial failure!http://www.bigdogbiker.com/forums/images/smilies/15.gif

May These Brave Firefighters Rest In Peace.

The private sale aspect is ONE aspect that we as legal gun owners must agree, needs to be tightened up a bit.

Agreed Chris. If you had to go thru a gun dealer and pay a small fee to check someone out I would be ok with that. I sold a semi auto Remington hunting rifle about a year ago. Had a guy from California want to send me cash and then I was supposed to send him the rifle. Something didn't seem right so i passed. Ended up selling to a local face 2 face. When the transfer happened I saw his drivers lisc. and got his truck plate number. I don't want to be the reason someone gets killed.
