On the world news last night it was stated that as a disabled veteran returning from war it takes on average 9 months before benefits start.
It was said to be an overwhelmed system that is to blame.
Here is a link from last January covering this issue.
http://militaryadvantage.military.com/2012/01/is-the-disability-claims-process-broken/
Here in New York it takes about 30 days to start receiving public assistance.
This is a quote from the link below.
Applying for Public Assistance (http://www.lawny.org/index.php/benefits-self-help-135/welfare-self-help-46/41-applying-for-public-assistance)

"What happens if I am accepted?"

"You will receive a written notice telling you that you are accepted. The notice must tell you how much cash and food stamps you will get every month and list the names of the people in your household covered by Medicaid. You should receive your benefits within 30 days of the date of your application, although in some cases you will not get cash assistance for 45 days."

Is it me or is there a problem here?
I called my congressman today and expressed my views on this subject.
I can't believe with today’s technology this problem can't be resolved. And Fast!
I would hope that more will share my anger and call their congressman also.
Sorry for the rant.

Check it out Chris. I think they will agree that most vets are getting screwed.
