Saw this on the RG site and thought it was cool enough to share.

Well I got tired of moving all my detachables , helmets leathers etc. around the garage when trying to work, so I went and picked up some metal yesterday and welded up a wall mounted storage rack to hold my ; tour pak, riders backrest; passengers backrest; coats ; 4 pair of sunglasses; and helmets.... now it's all up out of the way -- together-- and I dont have to hear the wife ask "Wheres my helmet, sunglasses , jacket ???? etc.. EVERYTIME we go riding ....priceless.......took a few pics....http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo113/qkdragster/IMG_1107.jpg

There are a very brands of the same thing.... heck even HD has one. The HD one looks like junk. I can't remember the other brand... and being at work I don't have my links.

I have never gotten one because I don't have the wall space nor do I want it standing off the wall like that. I put mine under my work bench for safe keeping. I have scratched it but never in that place. Usually removing it or placing it on the concrete.

I bought the Hells Foundry one - they are based in Brighton. Not sure how good it is/will be, I need to find time to mount it.

I do too! that might be something I might have to pick up....wouldn't have to worry about finding a soft blanket or towel to set my saddlebags on :dthumb:

Here's what I threw together with some scrap wood from a shelving unit I tore apart and some light steel tubing from Home Depot.

I keep my tour pack off....the only time I will keep it on the bike...is when I go on a trip were I would need it...that's why I have a street glide seat that I use when the tour pack is off...then when the tour pack is on...I go back to the ultra seat that came with the bike....but...everyone is different...

I too, only run the pizza box when on a road trip. I work in Dearborn, in the south end. I ride far more often than drive, and after replacing two tour pack mounting brackets, I made it removable.

They broke? What broke on them?

BikerGeoff

Chris, in the middle of the bracket that holds the tourpack, on both sides where the bolts go through the pack and the tube, between the frame mounts and license plate mounts.

So that entire ear broke off? WOW!

I wonder how much different your bike frame's detach mounts differ from mine. I just can't see mine breaking there.

Not the detachable rig, this was the stock bracket that broke. The front tabs mounted to fender struts stayed put, but t he license plate bracket was all that held the tour pack, AND my wife from going off the back of the bike at highway speed... The bracket broke in the middle on BOTH sides at the same time, where the bolts that hold the pack go through the bracket...
