older?
i have a 76, great bike. the only problem area i've read is it's better to replace the timing belt 20,000 miles or so. the olny real problem i have on my bike, no radio !!!! so if anybody has a radio for vetter fairing, let me know.

Ok i have been told to buy one made after 82 because of all the improvements made after that year?

depend's who you ask and what those people think. some people say improvement's, other's say more head ache's LOL. in the end, it really don't matter because it's an old bike that will need up keep no matter what year. they're all goldwing's, there's no bad year's LOL. find a style you like and buy one. if you like the 70's style, your more than welcome to take mine for a spin for a few hour's to see if you like it.

i like older bike's, mostly for the 70's because they are simple and part's are cheaper and easier to find and there still run side by side with the new/newer bike's. performance hasn't improved that much.

if you can get a 1500 wing. no stator to fail it has an alternator. more room for you and your passenger than a 1000 - 1200 wing. and more get up and go where it counts out on the road and it has a radio. if you get a 1500 se or aspencade it will have reverse

good frame much better handling than earlier wings and yes i have ridden a 1000, 1100and 1200 wing, i still have my 1200 wing. the earlier wings have less weight to toss around but they don't handle better

you can get timing belts for any wing from napa for about half the price that honda sells them for. honda belts are made by gates and so are napa belts

the se has all the options that came on a 1500 wing like reverse, cb, foot warmers. also the lights in the lower cowl are not driving lights but cornering lights and only come on with the turn signal that you use so the left cornering light will come on with the left turn signal. trunk and bag lights are standard on the se though most have added these lights to their aspencade or interstate and most se's have a two tone paint job from the factory

there is no oil dip stick on 1000 & 1100 wings they have a sight glass. stators don't put out much power for accessorys like heated gear or extra lights but price wise there cheap
