I need to get a logo for some t-shirts, banner, and maybe some patches.

Here's the old t-shirt, but Bob didn't have the filing for it, just this tiny image. This was ok but I want to improve upon.

So I think I can use Uma's nightster for the good all around bike. Seems like most people like it, some love it, and some just think it's just another cruiser.

So I snapped some shots of it in the driveway against the plainess of the garage door. I figured out how to do some cropping in MS Office 2010... quite surprised it had this option in excel of more surprise.

Here's the 3 good shots - cropped but raw

Take 1 - raw

Take 2 - raw

Take 3 - raw
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/2%20Wheel%20Michigan/Logo/take3.jpg

Here's some playing with the image
B's are Black & White @50% then effect

Take 1B
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/2%20Wheel%20Michigan/Logo/TAKE1B.jpg

Take 1C - no B&W but effect
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/2%20Wheel%20Michigan/Logo/take1C.jpg

Take 2B
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/2%20Wheel%20Michigan/Logo/take2B.jpg

Take 3B

What do you guys think so far?

I like the Take 1 Raw for the shot, the best...but one with with no b&w with effects..it makes everything run together....
I think her bike would look sweet taken with HDR Imaging and use it like that....Like how Jill took the pics of my bike...
here is a example ...
in HDR...
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x59/davessleeve/Bike%20shoot%2011-21-11/Photoshoot11-21-113.jpg

just a thought...don't know if you can do the imaging off a program or if you have to actually have someone take the pic in HDR...

But dave, understand it needs to be non-picture like. I need it to be more like a drawing or similar. Plus it helps hide some of the garage and such.

I like the raw shots. The other ones look like its melting....and the thought of my bike melting makes me sad.
Lol

Oh...I see...
I like the take 1 the best....and with the effects would make it non picture like:dthumb:

I like Take 1B

If you are going to do a T-Shirt, I'd suggest a gray one, the shirt being the color of the thick outline where the front wheel pops out of the border (not the dark color of the border the wheel pops out of but the lighter color that the wheel extends into), and that border would be the only one you'd see.

Black shirts are too common and I don't think it would look good as a white shirt (big dark square on a light background wouldnt be good).

Just my .02, looks great!

Oh, and I'll put my order in now for a patch. :)

I think Kosher understands what I'm trying to do.

I agree, 1B.. But minus the Purse on the forks.. IMHO..

Gas Man

What DB, you don't like the tool roll?

Denimblack

Its ok. I'm just sayin for the pic, I think it would look better just seeing the forks instead. Especially being in black and white..

I see what you mean. I could always retake the shot.

I like Nobody's take on it, however, as with all of Gas's pics there is a problem. Where does the back fender go? It just seems to disappear:tremble:

Gas Man

Yeah that's a problem Cave... its the light silver on the white background...

Mudpuppy

you need something like this:

Maybe we do.

Not the bike or anything (although I like the bike) - just the idea of the effect to use - would be better if there wasn't a background but just giving you a rough idea.. download the free picasa app (if you haven't already), adjust the lighting and then do the pencil sketch effect - you can adjust the strength, radius, etc. I believe the majority of people here are more the HD types so your picture would better represent the masses.. or you could do one of each.. or you could do nothing at all.. either way I will drink a cold mojito with you and laugh about senseless bullshit - with a free kick to the nut sack..

Problem with Mud's idea is that there is too much detail. Maybe???? not sure but I just don't see how it will translate to a T-shirt design. however, the pics of the nightster with the B&W effect were good but there needs to be a way to keep the fender in there. otherwise the seat looks like its just floating there and then the rear end has no continuity and the wheel just hangs out by itself. Try a darker background before you crop it out, the effect uses what is not what you are selecting and washes out what is different and the darker color may make the fender pop just enough as for the dark parts of the bike washing out would not be too much a problem as the lighting reflecting off the dark parts would set enough of a line.
Perhaps you need a green screen or blue screen to get this done with. I have an old blue blanket that may work.

Gas Man

Well maybe once I figure it all out maybe your R1 can be the other bike.

Gas Man

Blue blanket. Hmmm. Maybe. Or maybe just a dark garage door. Hell the inside of my garage door is dark brown.

Mudpuppy

Yeah I agree Cave - too much detail. That is easily fixed though - just clone out some of the detail. Need a blank background first off - that was just a sample pic for the effect I thought might work with the Nightster. The dark garage door would work or a blank wall. Anything of that nature.

This is 1B with a black background (called 1BB)
http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l311/cjclark69/2%20Wheel%20Michigan/Logo/1BB.jpg

And a different version of 1B called 1DD

1DD, my vote.

I fixed the throttle cables and went gray on the background of 1DD...

now called 1EE

I like the 1DD and 1EE. Fix the throttle cable in 1DD and it would be tits on a white or grey shirt. The 1EE would be good for a black shirt.

Gas Man

1EE is 1DD but I fixed the cable and changed the background color

I'm lost on the numbering of these ideas... But I thought 1BB was great - still a bit too much detail - but pretty good. For me it's gotta be white print on a black shirt. Bet I have 200 t shirts and every one of them is black.
If you would like some help with finishing this up - I might be able to talk the wife into getting involved. Jen is darn good at this thing. (she's in the Roseville area through Monday - house sitting)

I have been playing with the 1BB.

I was thinking about a dark gray t-shirt. White shirts can sometime look cheap. I won't be doing a black shirt, just for the same reason. Also, because black sucks in the sun.

I'm more than happy to have some more input Chop. Hope all is well with you and your move.
