So what are your favorite Michigan routes to follow, any short roadtrips that are worth sharing? Any overnite road trips in Michigan that you've been on this past season? I'd love to read some and try em. Been on a few great ones myself, but I'll share em later.

Aaahhh the dragon..........pure motorcycle bliss, and everyone that rides should go atleast once.
I attended the FZ1 rally this past june at deals gap and had a great time. I took a week off and two laned it all the way down, meeting a couple of FZ1ers at the top of skyline drive into the Blue Ridge pkwy into Ashville NC.
Along the way we detoured to Boone NC and rode the SNAKE (US421), even better then the dragon, more curves more miles, all I can say is WOW!.
As for Michigan, lets face it, most of our roads suck and going up north is the only real decent place to ride.
As far as weekend destinations, I prefer southeast OH, lots of nice twisties and scenery and almost the same ride time to get there.

Hey B
we can definitly do a weekend in OH, I welcome a riding partner, I'm not the fastest guy around but I think I can keep up. 400 miles a day is about my limit, but I've been known to ride a little further.
PJ and Paige are great people and yes they did attend the rally, I do buy alot of my parts from them.
THE SNAKE..............make sure you hit it, it is just to* much fun.
Also I agree with you, the cherohala (cherrycola) is a great ride, maybe the most enjoyable of all.

As for Michigan destinations, the 1st one that comes to mind is route 119 from Petosky up thru Harbor Springs, at which point it turns into Lake Shore Drive, or as they call it, the Tunnel of Trees, ending up in Cross Village.

That's a great stretch of road B. My wife and I did that one 2 summers ago. We stopped at the Legs in and had lunch, really good authentic polish cuisine. Highly recommended especially if your single, they bring over college kids from Europe to work during the summer months ;) I've been wanting to take a trip back up there. Let me know if your going to make a trip back up there this summer and I'll tag along with ya if you don't mind.

I'm in... I'm in... I'm in...

pick me... pick me... pick me...

I have been to Gap numerous times... when i lived in FL I rode there about 2-3 times per year.

That is motorcycle heaven... Then turns NEVER end. It's pure bliss for a rider. I have intentions of at LEAST one trip this summer, may push it to two is money allows.

And all these weekend trips up north, summer Saturdays, we can leave at 6am and ride for a weekend... that would be awesome.

I need a few of those weekends this 2009.

Love to hear that you guys have the same passion as I and many others on this site.

Don't come up north without letting me know. I can usually pull a few people together for a ride as well. M119 is in my back yard.
A few of my favorites in the area are.
M88 through Mancelona
M32 from Atlanta all the way to East Jordan
Riding the Lake Huron coast from Tawas to Mackinac, I believe that is M23
The UP area around Tahquamenon Falls
and there are alot of backroads in the Petoskey area with nice sweepers.

I enjoy riding in the thumb, there is something about riding down a road thats surrounded by corn. When the sun sets it's kinda scary knowing how many damm deers are in the corn.

I say this every year and I'll type it right now, I plan on riding us-23 up to my dads cabin which is 20 miles north of Rogers city.

The good thing is they don't move around as much in the summer, but in the fall you have to be really careful after bow season starts. I can't wait for the farmers to cut the corn that time of year.

My town is completely surrounded by farm fields, I watch to see which ones are planting soybeans and wheat in the spring!

from what i hear though the population is a little high in the thumb so they are moving around a bit more.. too many deer not enough food..

Them furry little rats are everywhere. I can take ya out for a ride and see 200-250 of them suckers within 20 miles of my home. After the corn gets high enough you just don't see them but they are still in the area. I try to do my share threw Oct-Dec. Freezer full of venison:D
