Trading quips with Kosher in another thread got me thinking about the music I end up listening to while flipping wrenches. So I thought I'd start a thread for everyone to share a bit of their tastes.

I've been grooving to some nice covers by the Grateful Dead lately

In the past I've not been terribly into Phish, being very adamant that they are NOT another grateful dead, but I've been listening to them a lot lately.

Regarding your original question, I think this applies, LOL.

I'm not a big GFD fan.

I usually listen to Pandora and the sky is the limit there. Otherwise, I'm a big 89X and 106.7 fan.

That and I have a cable tv on the wall.

I like listening to the Tigers or Wings while I'm tinkering.

Unfortunatly I get terrible reception in the garage. WOMC bulls in all over the dial and when I tune something in and walk away it will shift off station or onto WOMC. Usually can get 94.7, but sometimes just have to settle for what I can get.

One day I was working on my car and my 10 year old son was "helping". Doug FM was playing and after a little while, he looks me in the eye and says "what (the hell) are you listening to?" (the hell was implied). I laughed my ass off and tried to find another station.

I have a wire with alligator clips on the antennae up to the garage door framing/track. It helps.

When I have the radio on in the garage it's mostly on 106.7 the D...otherwise it's cd's of Disturbed, Korn, AC/DC, ect...

I'll turn the garage TV on with no volume and play music , don't know why but it works for me.

That sounds like fun... tv, no sound, radio substitute.

Putzing with the brakes tonight I started with Beirut and Double Down and wound down with Korpiklaani and Green Jello while drinking Jameson and figuring out if I wanted to run hardlines for the brakes on my project bike.

Now to wait for my paycheque to hit the bank so I can order a new rear caliper. The old one is too corroded and bricked to use. I'd be better off using the thing to club the next dipshit that leaves an advert in my door next to my "no soliciting" sign..

Recently got the iphone and have been all over the pandora radio (its playing on the computer right now). I hook it up in the truck and garage. I also have a massive itunes library. As far as radio is 89x, 106.7, 99.5, 101.1(especially on tuesdays). Im constantly changing it up because I listen to music all the time whether its at work, home, gym, driving, riding or whatever. I even listen to music when I read because I like the little bit of back ground noise.

WOW rugby... you must not talk much then.

nope people are stupid and irritate me. and at work I usually don't talk a lot because the people I work with just like to bitch about their jobs when in fact it is a very easy job considering were actually only working about 50% of the day lately. That is the amount of time actually spent on calls. Even though they say ideal UHU for us is 38%. I'm just used to working non stop all day so I don't complain like they do so I only talk to the people I like.

Every time we get a new hire at work I lay out the unoffical rules and the 2 rules "That will get you through the rest of your life no matter what job, or where you live."

Rule #1:People are stupid
Rule #2:see Rule #1

In an interview with 4 or 5 on their side, I was asked about my "pet peeve". Before I could think I responded "stupid people". The room was silent for a LONG time as I regretted and they each wondered whether I had offended them, LOL. Got the job.

Remind me when I interviewed for a tech center some years ago and the HR guy asked "So what would you say is your biggest flaw?" With out missing a beat I blurted out "Well I was born with a birth defect that prevents my lips from puckering and kissing asses." That dude had a priceless "did I just hear that?" look. I still got the job, but it was an interesting few seconds or so while the guy's brain backfired out the carb.

That job is where I learn the 2 rules, and that I need to shoot myself in the head rather than work another tech support job. There's damn little than can destroy your faith in 'human intelligence' quicker than having to answer phones for 9hrs a day.

From the more esoteric corner of my music collection, music for the Zen of packing several sets of wheel bearings, and rebuilding a master cylinder for the front wheels...

I tend to favor folk & symphonic metal with the occasional other in the mix like Battlecross, which I think is from Warren if I remember correctly.
