Well I have wanted a center stand for a few years but never got around to spending the money on it. Well with all the OT I've been working, I figured what the heck.

I knew of 3 brands... Rivco (http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=622&cat=220&page=1)but man does that look like cheap junk.

2 years ago at a MC Rally, I saw the Wheel Dock EZ Up (http://www.wheeldock.com/prod_EZ.shtml) stand, but didn't have the cash that day.

But then I saw HD (http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT<>prd_id=845524448770866&FOLDER<>folder_id=2534374302290947&ASSORTMENT<>ast_id=2534374302290947&bmUID=1227276556923&bmLocale=en_US)had their own.

I figured the HD version would be the one to get. They USUALLY don't let me down, theirs featured a wheel on the ground option or rear wheel off the ground via adjustable feet.

I bought it from a bud's online store and thought I was good to go. Well I was wrong!! The whole unit was held up with three 1/4" bolts... I wasn't liking that but I continued installation. Once completed, I found out the foot lever was DIRECTLY below the rear passenger floor board mount. WTF!! They want you to turn your foot sideways and use the knarling to push it down till you can actually put your foot on it. PLUS they won't allow you to drive off it! Pull it off and sold it on ebay at a $20 loss.

I ordered the Wheel Dock EZ UP (http://www.wheeldock.com/prod_EZ.shtml)from their website, they have a 30 day full money back satisfaction guarantee. I have seen this in action before and should have just went with it in the first place. The HD failure is the 3rd time their product sucked compared to the aftermarket alternative. Live and learn...

Here's the Wheel Dock EZ UP

My early 2009 frame required a little extra work to fit. I called them and they said out of 300 of them installed by themselves, mine is only the 2nd one EVER needing a small grinding. Once I did that... it slipped right on BAM!

You can see this one has a BEEFY top plate that goes over the frame and is held on by a nice 3/4" bolt.

You can see below, it has a nice cut out for the trans drain plug.

OH MY it works so well. You can lift the bike onto the center stand from the side of the bike or while still saddled on the bike!

The black bottom and chrome lever blends in GREAT!

Cool beans man. I thought about fabing a center stand for my current project, might have to see if these guys have one that'll work with my frame.

Those are nice units, how about cornering, any issues with scraping with the slightly reduced clearance?

I like it!! Bike looks great by the way. Something has to be done about those rear turn lamps though

I have yet to put it to that proper test. Will do later this month... heading south to the BRP from end to end. Should be able to find some twisty bits on that. :D

Thanks.

I would but when I put on the trunk it wouldn't match... further, about the only thing able to be done with the fender tip would be to vht tint spray it. So I've been just leaving them red.... I would LIKE to do the new HD LED lights in the rear but boy oh boy are they expensive.

I'm not a lolipop lover either, in fact I have 2 sitting in a box from when I replaced them on my Heritage and then on my Road King. At least he took the reflectors off, LOL

re: center stand, to each his/her own, but I never quite got why you would want to spend nearly $300 for one.

Bike is lookin snappy, I will say.

Kosher........I would never have considered any interest in a centerstand until I looked at Chop D's. When I put my kickstand down on my SG the bike feels a bit unstable. I always find myself pulling the bike back after the stands down to make sure it's fully set in place.. With the center stand, it was just hands down stable! It's as if you just put a jack under it to hold it steady. When I had the Bid dog, the stand would hold the bike like an anchor. I just don't get that stability with the SG.
Just a little added piece of mind I guess.

I feel the same about the kick stand but ive just learned to trust it. But that center stand is nice cave and gas both have and its nice especially since unless you know its there you wont notice it ever
