Greetings from Fenny Stratford, Bletchly, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK (yeah it's kind of like a hyphenated last name).

Anyways I thought I drop you guys a line as I'm headed back to the Good Ole US of F-ing A Friday!

Saturday morning we leave for Reno, NV! Yeah, 2500 miles +/- each way and I haven't been on a bike in 3 months.

Can you say unprepared kids? I knew you could.

Actually, dad and his buddy Howard (Merlin) have had my bike for a couple of weeks. Outfitting it with 1 side bag, new fork seals (I installed one upside down), HID headlight, an NRHS forward offset A/C to provide some knee room and a fender (I haven't seen the bike and am terrrified that it's covered in LED's and trim bars). So the only concern is my jet-lagged ass for the first couple of days.

We're riding through Yosemite and route 395 but other than that we'll decide the route each morning. Pics to follow in a couple of weeks.

Chris; Good to hear you'll be back, any time slot for us locals to get a ride in? And as I understand, the pole mounted yellow rotating warning light was done in very good taste!! oh, and was closely matched to your bike color as well. Dads air suspension has got to be sorted out by now. Your brother making the run as well? Pipe rewelded or did Super Trapp step up to the plate? I sent them a note the other day as my exhaust mount bracket is fracturing again, right next to one of the gussets we added last time!!

Hey Paul. I might have a couple of days at the end of Sept (24-26) around town. Depends on when we make it back from out West. I'll give you a call if it's not snowing by then (yeah, I know, you'll still be riding).
Greg can't get the time off of work. He and his wife, Gena and my mom are all flying out and meeting us in Yosemite. Supertrapp stepped up and made me one without an O2 bung, it arrived yesterday (how's that for timing?). I don't like this rear pipe failing but their customer service is generally pretty good.
Got a pic from my dad, looks like I'm carrying a bass drum.

I'm going to take a computer, and if fatigue and whiskey allow, I'll keep updating the blog as we travel. Should be a once in a lifetime trip

Take care,
Chris

Trip should be awesome, I'm envious. Bike shot looks like Howard's garage, and yes that looks like quite a bag on back. Keep as much weight as low as possible. My S.T. mount brcket has fractured again, alongside of the gussets we added when we last welded it up, they are sending me a new bracket, which has a "manufacturing change" done to it! Oh, and if that rear bag wraps around the turn signal stalk keep and eye on it as mine would always loosen,(the stalk), and required tightening!

After a solid day of rain through Illinois, today didn't suck. Currently in Jeff City, Missouri. Lost my lights when the HD manufacture run-stop-turn module failed. Still pretty good. Happy Labor Day!

I'm jealous

And I was jealous of your NC trip, and trail of trees.... I was just waiting to get all of my trips done in one 3-week period.

This almost makes up for missing half of the riding season. Southern Colorado.

Way to go Chris, hows your duffle holding up? Do you get back support from it?

Got to say that 2700 miles in, I'm thrilled with the way the bike's running and everything is holding up. The roll bag gives a little support but I have such a forward riding position it's minimal.

For an hour and a half last night this was our playground.

Until this rolled in....

And we evicted the Ranger's picinic table to protect the bikes. Drinking beer at the Ranger's station during a thunderstorm in Lake Powell. What could be better....?

Did the "Battle of the Brits" today. Went over with Dennis,(Tinman2), and got a couple hundred miles in after my reassembly, bike is running great. You running the new pipe from S.T, of a welded up one? Dad doing good as well? And Howard must be having the time of his life!

I'm back in the UK, settled, bored and figured this would be an oportune time to update this post with pictures.
I appologize about the thumbs but the blog pics are on picasa and I haven't figured out how to post appropriately sized pics yet. Your input is helpful....

Uh-oh, I might be figuring this interweb thing out.

It was an awesome ride. There were some spots like Eminence, MO that were some of the best roads I've ever been on.

The scenery was incredible, The Great Sand Dunes Nat. Park.

We hit some construction, but hiding the beer from the cop helped break up the wait.

All in all, the bikes stayed reasonably together. We did more riding than wrenching and were able to keep everything on the road.

Ok I did it.

Made a Picture of the Month (POTM) (http://www.2wheelmichigan.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?73-Picture-of-the-Month)

I was thinking about it, but by God Chris300s, you're picture inspired me to not wait till Spring and just do it now. I don't think my lame sitting pic has any chance... so go submit your pic rolling fork side pic.
