building this for a brother on another board that got burned by another guy to build him a bike. it's a sohc cb750 honda, it'll be hard tailed. alot of the parts are donated from other members.
donated frame already made a drop seat but i gotta cut it up

30 seconds later

30 minutes later with 2" stretched down tubes

ran out of welding wire and gas so....

No worry about the chop? No frame jig?

05-16-2011, 07:47 PM
for the down tube stretch i don't need a jig. just measure a few times and work the welds so it don't pull outta shape to much. after it's done, you can see if it's straight or messed up lol. i've done it a few time so i have it down, it's easy really.
my jig is in the back ground, the extruded aluminum beam. it does what it should, hold shit LOL. it's more of a 3rd hand.

the good people and cool to hang out with. frames just tacked together

i wanted to see what it's gonna look like so a little mock up. tank and fender donated by mike naguethey. he made the fender for this bike, one strong ass fiberglass fender. very nice!!

Hmmm... very interesting... looks like a fun build.

Why did you go fiberglass on the rear fender?

06-03-2011, 08:29 AM
he went fiber glass cause it was donated. i was worried at first myself but after seeing it, it's a well built fender and i know it'll hold up. they've been running that one for years and it's a proven design.

i painted the frame last weekend, it's a flat copper finish. got the motor bolted in today and forward controls brackets on. brackets were a little bent but nothing a BFH couldn't fix.

putting the motor in the frame

motor bolted in with forward brackets and sitting on the bike jack

the camera flash really messed up the frame color

01-28-2013, 10:37 PM
front end on last night

tonight i put on the rear fender, wheel, brake and sissy bar

harley 16x5.5 wheel, 180 tire, yamaha R1 caliper and i made the bracket out of stainless steel

01-28-2013, 10:43 PM
huh, my edit didn't work so... top tree is new, made by a buddy of mine, it's 3/4 aluminum. if anybody ever looks to buy a columbus springer, there's a very good chance it will need a new top tree or the old one repaired. rocker arms are made by me out of 3/8 steel. i still need to put the axle in, right now it all thread lol. hey it works for mock up when you don't have the right axle lol.

now that all the big stuff is done and it kind of looks like a motorcyle, all the little shit starts and that takes way longer

Damn jon, that may run by the thaw!!

01-28-2013, 11:44 PM
i stil need to paint the gas tank but it still need's some work, it needs a sight tube welded in and i have to find a pin hole leak by the filler neck thats recessed. oh and the oil tank needs paint, so i'm starting on that next at work. i still need to make a few parts but it's getting there. i'm trying to get a deadline so i can get this out of here and down to mississippi real soon. i kind of wanna put it in the gilbralter show coming up, that'll give me the push to get it done. being a one man show for paint, frame work, engine work, fab, wiring, etc, sure does take a little time lol

if anybody wants to lend a hand, come on over !!!!! LOL my biggest helper is my wife, she's right there to lend a hand and she learned (not by choice) how to build a bike lol.
