Hey all,

I just spent the last couple of days smoothing and polishing my lowers. I didn't have access to much more than a bench grinder.
pretty simple process once you get into it:

Thought you'd be interested. There's details on the blog post.

Nice man! I was just looking at a bench polisher. What sort of polish are you using?

Wow, that's amazing. How long did it take you?

I wish that I had a better pic of the "before" but I don't.
They're ugly from the factory, lots of casting lines, rough cast finish on the back side and the brake tab is hideous. Take a close look at any stock Dyna or Sporty and you'll see.
The powdercoat had started to lift and look like shit so I attacked them.

It took me about 6 hours all told. 2, 2 and 2 for the grinding, sanding and polishing.
I sanded down to 600 grit wet and then polished them with jewelers rouge and white.

I'm still thinking about it... trying to get some homework done before hand though...

Rich: I'm guessing that by warmer you mean above fifty? You missed a very memorable ride home today, and your new B-King would have loved Gratten. Chris was scheduled to go as well but now we all know what he was doing!

While I'm huddled around the shop light for warmth....
This is how dad rolls. In a HUGE warehouse space.
Where the owner does the paint work on his whip
And his "Nifty Fifty"
And there's a Kristen Eagle project when he gets to it.

Can your dad adopt me. PLEASE!

Not my dad's place. It's a buddy's communal workshop where everyone works on their projects. There's a bunch of model airplanes, r/c cars, a 944, Lotus Super 7, 1928 Rolls Royce, etc. My X90 went over there while I was in the UK but I think I'll bring it back home to work on it.
