Yes, days we wait in anticipation for. That was the second summer I owned it. 2006 Had just washed it and took the pics in the back yard. As I recall it was followed by a few brews.

There's something theraputic about a bike wash and wax and a few beers in the shade on a hot summer's day. A little classic rock playing in the background (because I'm old) and I'm good to go.

RoadZombie
02-27-2010, 12:47 PM
Nah, pretty much stock 02 Softail Duece with untold amounts of money in H-D chrome parts and accessories. I never really researched exactly how much money the previous owner(s) tied up in it...but I parked next to another pretty much "stock off the showroom floor" Duece at Stingers one evening and the difference was like night and day. I really scored on this bike...I got a DAMN good deal on it and pretty much every mod that I would have done, the PO already has done. About the only other thing I want to do is pick up a laced back rim (not a fan of the solid disc at all) and either a chrome swing arm or at least chrome swing arm covers.

...aside from a fuel remap. Hoping to get that done this spring.

LoL Nah, I'm the same way. I still prefer my bike(s) bagless, but if I had a shot at a Street Glide, I'd be all over it. Especially a Screamin' Eagle one. I used to be "anti-bag" all together.

Hi, my name is redrider, been riding on the street now for about 3 years, rode dirt since I was XX years old. My wife is hotter than hell (include pics) and she rides too. We live around the Monroe area, hopefully we can get together for some ridin' this year.

Heres a few pics of it as a Rigid and as a Cruiser.

I've ridden with both Sprink and Sportsters Paul, and they're decent sized guys. There are pics around here somewhere of one of our rides.

I used to have a Sporty and sold it for that reason, plus is wasn't comfortable with my wife on the back. If I rode alone, maybe. Both of those guys look perfectly normal on them, I always felt like a circus bear on a tricycle, and I'm not a big person at all.

It also depends on the model you tried. A Hugger or Low model is going to feel a lot smaller than a Standard, for example. Also, the customs come with forward controls, so that helps you stretch out a bit.

Here you go.

Sprink on the left, then SportstersPaul, then (I think) Joe Flamingo from the XL forum, the Jerry GSX, then me.

I'm just curious how tall the Sportster riders are? I haev gone and looked at them, but I'm 6' and 200lbs... I always felt liek the bike was just too short & cramped when I sat on it?
I really like some of the new sportsers' looks, but I dont think I could be comfortable... Thoughts?

Rich: Comfort is what you make it and how you set your bike up. I can't go far on big twins as an old broken back injury is really aggravated by the upright riding position, the Sporties tip me forward some and they ride lots better. My '06 R has covered 78,000 miles in four years, the 2000 C is showing about 87,000. The "R" has also covered 5 Ironbutt Saddlesore 1,000's, with a best one day total of 1400 miles in 22 hrs. Don't do the math it was an accelerated ride. The last Ironbutt 6/'10 went from Lansing to New Orleans,(17 hours), and after hitting the French Quarter that evening it was decided to return to Michigan via "Tail of the Dragon", which turned into 2500 miles in three days. Greg an I have shared a lot of road the last couple years and he will attest to the fact that it can be done with some comfort. That ain't bad for an old greatgrandpa, (twice over), with an artificial knee and an attitude. Oliver, Don Flamingo, in Tim's shot above bumped into us down at Deal's Gap last summer on his way to the west coast!

Well, maybe when the ER-6n is paid off I'll look at harleys again... I dont think I will ever sell the ER however...
Working on the comfort of this bike, and some stuff to make it more touring capable, rather than just a short trip bike..

If you get a spare minute do a searchon "Motomarathon', they have a New England run already planned, could be right up your alley.

One of the nicer packages H.D. ever offered. I'm doing a search for a '02 or '03 FXDXT.

Thanks. Funny, only a few of us will admit to that. Everyone wants a Low Rider, or a Wide Glide.

The FXDXT looks like a nice machine!
I'll bet the molded faring works better with the wind than the clip on windshield.
The adjustable front suspension is also a great addition.
Best of luck on your search.

You're not off that easy butcher. Post up a new thread with an intro and make sure you get up some pics.
