<H3>I know that a bunch of you have seen the videos recently. I'm riding over there Sat. to volunteer. You can still enter to race at www.thunderdrome.com (http://www.thunderdrome.com)

From the site: The Thunderdrome is a balls-out wheel to wheel race for geared road bikes, fixies, mountain bikes, powered scooters, pit bikes and mopeds on Detroit’s vintage Dorais Velodrome. We’re restoring the place by holding events and putting 50% of the profits into upkeep and giving the other 50% to Detroit Parks and Recreation.

I just got back.... blown out.
It was the single coolest thing I've ever witnessed! Great group of guys, borderline reckless fun and PBR spnsored the after party....
YouTube videos will be up shortly, amazing.
Next year will be 3 times the size with five times the spectators.
btw-I have a line on an AMF Harley X90 to build up for the scooter race next year!

Looks like a great time. I wasn't too far away rom there, unfortunately I was at a wedding. Would've rather spent the day at the drome.

Here's a bike that caught my eye after reading this thread last Friday:

http://monroemi.craigslist.org/mcy/2009683748.html

Another one. Too big for the track, but cool nonetheless:

That BSA is badass! The Thunderdrome guys gave wide latitude re: bikes. Basically if you could run it safely and there were enough bikes for a class they'd allow it.
Next year will be really interesting, they're planning several races throughout the year.

Wow, the BSA is already gone.

I can't believe they cleaned it up and held and event already. Who owns it and put the event on?

Check out the website Chris posted. It's owned by Detroit Parks. These guys came across it and got permission to have events. They have to get their own insurance, and they give half the proceeds to Detoit Parks. The other half goes back into the site. There's a whole history of it in the link.

yes the site in itself is very cool..

The Cliff's notes version:
Tom Nardone (www.extremepumpkins.com (http://www.extremepumpkins.com)) and the Mower Gang (www.mowergang.com (http://www.mowergang.com)) "rediscovered" the park and the Velodrome.
Andy, Allen (www.homegrowncycle.com (http://www.homegrowncycle.com)) and Ben (www.thunderdrome.com (http://www.thunderdrome.com)) continued on as conservators of the 'drome.
Thunderdrome is planning several events next year to raise money to improve the park.
Think about donating time or money. The next work day is Nov. 6th creating a "grass maze" in a Detroit park. There's usually beer fueling the workday but keep it on the DL.

Guy did a nice job on the bike.

He had some pics of cafe's that he'd built that were pretty impressive too. That tank is hammered, not cut and welded.

The kid on the XS fabricated everything himself including the loop hardtail. Said it would be up for sale after he paints it.

Nice pics Mud. Did you get one of everyone's favorite fixxie driver?

Thanks.. yeah that bike is bad ass and i really like how that picture turned out..

no pictures of the fav fixxie driver.. didn't take any mountain bike or bicycle pics - i was sleeping from all the "excitement".. if they gave each other bats and crowbars i might be interested - that and the females rode topless (bottomless option and MP preferred)..

Yes tank is hammered. As I said we talked. He did that cause the tank got dented. The trailer fenders were cool too.us

Only thing bad about Bobbing a Softail is just cant get the ass end to look right.
