My company is designing a water pipeline for a customer in Pennsylvania. The plan is to run it up a mountain about 20 miles. It'll need booster stations along the way and some valves in critical locations.

So, one of the VP's asked me if I want to spend a week in the PA mountains with another guy choosing locations for the pipe, valves, etc. We need a layout to start the CAD work. Sure, I'll go.

"One thing", he says. "You can't really gain access to all these areas by truck, we'll probably need to rent some ATV's for you guys to get around on."

OH HELL YES!!!!!! Running an ATV up and down a mountain sounds like a helluva good way to spend a week!

They're about 90% sure we'll be doing it, probably in about 2 weeks. Fingers crossed!

Ok. As soon as I figure out how to get a set of legs, a transit, and a story pole, clothes, other various tools of the trade, and tow a trailer with two ATV's out to the mountains with the bike, I'll do it!

Sure sounds like a ruff week at the office.

You guys going to run some type of ITT back pressure control valve to help control the hydralics of the line over the hills?

There'll be some ARV's and some checks for operation, also some isolation valves. Not much downhill, mostly up. They'll be using something in the neghborhood of 5MGD, not much chance of it running backwards unless there's a break. A primary pumo station at the bottom and two more as you go up.
