Stemming from our great loss

RIP Big Al (http://www.2wheelmichigan.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1781)

I am checking with my work to see if the nightshift guy can cover me if anything needs my attention.

I have left a message with Al's ex-wife to get more details on the funeral/mass/wake.

When I spoke to her Saturday she believed it was going to be Sat 11th around 11am in Novi.

We'll run with that as a tenative time.
Al's our buddy, and a rider to the core. So I'm riding, RAIN or shine. But all are welcome either way.
Let's get it worked out. Once I find out the location, we'll meet down the road and arrive together in a show of support.
Both locations TBA
Time TBA
Who's in?

Ok Boys... time to rally the troops.

I just spoke to his ex-wife Peggy, what a saint of a woman. She said that she is really looking forward to meeting the bikers. That they truely have a great positive outlook on who Al was and loved him for him. She wants their daughter to see this and see how many people loved her father. Please understand this has stiked deep with me.

The plans are follows.

No funeral open visitation. Al's been cremated at his wish so the following is the proceedings.

We are meeting ahead of the mass at 0930 at the Valero Gas Station at the corner of GrandRiver & 10 Mile right off Street view (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=gas+station&f=l&gl=us&hl=en&dq=holy+family+catholic+church+novi+loc:+Woodhaven ,+MI&sll=42.470957,-83.427086&sspn=0.015353,0.038409&ie=UTF8&radius=1.17&split=1&rq=1&ev=zo&hq=gas+station&hnear=&ll=42.468399,-83.42277&spn=0,0.002401&z=19&layer=c&cbll=42.468403,-83.42265&panoid=9Mvyi0JVhOllgfWdjHLqQg&cbp=12,55.4,,0,8.74) of gas station

Kickstands up at 1000 to go to his mass which is.
11am at Church of the Holy Family (http://www.holyfamilynovi.org) for mass on meadowbrook, Novi, Mi.

I want as many riders as possible to show support and show his family that we stick together. I have my work cleared so I can go. I'm in 100%.

Who's with? What portion are you in for and will you be riding?

Any of you are welcome to help in the showing of how bikers are and how we stick together. This group of guys that frequently ride with me are some of the best, most honest to God guys you will ride with. Please come if you wish.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. You have missed out honestly. Anybody who didn't know Al is at the losing end of the deal. He was a guy to idolize. How many of us would have liked to retire, get a rv, load up the dog, and the bike. Travel across the country visiting great people that you meet online with the same passion. Ride amazing roads and see incrediable things. Who wouldn't want that? Who wouldn't look up to somebody who was doing that? Mix in, the carefree outlook on life, that just allows you to take everything in stride... That was Al.

RIP buddy.

I can't make it to the funeral today, but I certainly would like to send my condolences out to the friends and family. From what I am hearing on this board, he sounded like a remarkable person.

He really was Jerry.

A biker's dream. What is it? Are you living it? Most won't be able to put it into words and rarely will any say they are living it. Well I knew one man who did better. He lived it and did so with as many people as he could get to tag along.

Big AL was just that man. Was it fueled by a movie from yester-year, a passion for two wheeled adventures, great friends, or traveling the best country in the world? How about all the above!

There's nobody around that has been able to duplicate the biker dream like Al was. He was living it to the highest like we always knew him to do. Loading the bike and Ted (his dog); Al would set off to parts un known. Maybe he had a destination or perhaps he just ended up at your house or mine. We would hop on our scoots and see this great nation at the best angle possible, between two hand controls with the wind at our knees. Living the dream!

He touched so many of us throughout the country in such a dramatic way. Leaving many of us feeling like we've known him forever. Yet, he always seemed to find his way back home for his daughters next big trip, event, or holiday. For Al had many passions, but all were second to the love for his daughter. How was he able to do this all? He's living the dream!

Big AL was a man to look up to and a man to emulate in many ways. His care free adventurous ways was as contagous as the flu and as charming as a silver tongued devil. When standing around our chromed steeds you'll hear many stories and they'll almost always end up with a great Al story. That's how we'll remember him. That's how we'll keep him alive. We'll all be able to once again ride with AL on the Great highway above... as long as we can keep up him while he lives the dream.

RIP Al. You are missed!

A special thanks goes out to Chris, Fish, Mud for coming out in the brotherhood spirit. Never knowing the man but giving up a whole day to ride to meet, hang, mass, wake, ride home in the rain. That's top notch!

It's nothing boys, I do my best and let that speak for itself, whether it's positive or not. I was honored to be part of it just as I was honored to have known the man.

And it should be also put out there... thanks to my co-worker who allow me to shift our work shifts all wierd to allow me to be there. I left him a copy of the group picture above in thanks. If it wasn't for him, I would have never made it.

did anyone catch my icy hot stunta exit onto grand river? i know you were sitting there waiting to turn right but not sure if you saw my spin up the bald back tire in the rain, almost low side and save it - no that wasn't on purpose.. lol..

Gas Man
09-14-2010, 10:36 AM
LOL I did not see that.

I know on the nightster I had to feather the throttle pretty good the whole ride home... kept spinning the rear and freakin out Cave... which is actually entertaining.

hell yeah that is a bad ass bike.. my bike wasn't even a down payment on any of the other bikes there but it looked damn good parked next to them (that and fishtailing down grand river).. lol..
